Arcadis is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Major Projects team within the growing Arcadis Mobility organization. The ideal candidate will orchestrate sophisticated design planning, control, and change management strategies for expansive Design-Build (D&B) transportation projects spanning the United States. Your responsibilities will extend to providing essential support to D&B Project Managers and the D&B leadership team, both in the strategic phases of project pursuits and post-award to ensure the accuracy of project schedules and financial benchmarks. The Senior Project Controls Specialist will be a key member of the Major Projects Operations team, reporting directly to the Commercial Director. Role Accountabilities: Project Planning and Scheduling: - Develop and maintain detailed project baseline schedules, ensuring alignment with contract milestones and objectives during the pursuit and the post-award stages. - Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to establish realistic and achievable project timelines and budgets. - Periodically update and analyze project schedules, identifying potential risks and proposing mitigation strategies. - Conduct schedule impact assessments for contractor-proposed changes and provide recommendations to maintain project timelines. - Perform earned value reporting to ensure forecasted finish dates are in line with the reality on the ground. Cost Control: - Assist in the development of design fees relating to tender and detailed design project stages. Ensure the scope of work is appropriately accounted for. - Monitor project expenditures and analyze budget variances via Oracle cost system as well as other ad hoc trend analysis measures. - Work with project teams to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement cost control measures. - Assist Project Managers with capturing potential change orders through effective change control measurement and reporting techniques, limiting the erosion of project profitability. Required Qualifications: - 4+ years of in the field of transportation / infrastructure projects. - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field. - Strong Primavera P6 experience. - Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Office Suite programs Key Skills/Attributes - Understands Critical Path Method scheduling concepts. - Ability to work independently and participate in concurrent pursuits and projects. - Requires a combination of salesmanship and technical empathy. - Interest in reviewing and understanding complex contracts to identify and mitigate project risk. - Ability to analyze program delivery data to develop actionable insights to keep projects and programs on track. - Strong communicator with both internal and external customers.
