TEECOM

About the Position The Associate is a developing mid-level consultant responsible for owning discipline-specific deliverables, coordinating with clients and design partners, owning and delivering small projects, and supporting the delivery of larger projects under the mentorship of a more senior engineer. In this position, you shift from primarily production-focused work to applying judgment, managing defined scope, and ensuring your work aligns with TEECOM’s standards and documentation practices. You’ll work with your Mentor, senior engineers, and Project Leads to develop accurate, coordinated designs while building independence through strong documentation habits and consistent follow-through. You’ll design systems, prepare drawings, specifications, and calculations, and produce coordinated deliverables—either independently or with the production team. Externally, you’ll begin developing client relationships—building trust through clear communication, reliable follow-through, and thoughtful coordination. You’ll participate in project meetings, programming sessions, coordination discussions, and construction support, helping maintain alignment with clients, contractors, manufacturers, and design partners. Internally, you’ll contribute discipline scope input for pursuits, prepare early fee assumptions, and assist with proposal coordination. You’ll strengthen team practices by improving documentation, developing tools, and sharing lessons learned, while progressing through training journeys and structured mentorship. This position reflects growing capability, emerging leadership behaviors, and increased accountability for delivering disciplined, well-documented, and coordinated work. Discipline Ownership, Client Coordination, and Project Leadership - As an Associate, your impact comes from owning discipline-specific work, leading small projects, contributing to larger projects, and building confidence with both internal teams and clients. You contribute in three key ways: Lead and Support Project Execution With Growing Judgment - You strengthen project delivery by taking ownership of discipline-specific outputs and ensuring they are accurate, coordinated, and aligned with expectations. - You improve design clarity and coordination by applying developing engineering judgment to resolve issues, validate assumptions, and make informed decisions with increasing independence. - You accelerate your growth through mentorship—actively integrating feedback and building the capability needed to take on larger scopes and more complex responsibilities. Build Team Collaboration and Client Confidence - You strengthen client trust by showing up prepared, responsive, and reliable in meetings and coordination discussions. - You maintain alignment across disciplines by communicating clearly, closing loops proactively, and ensuring decisions and next steps are understood. - You enhance team performance by sharing insights, asking questions, and helping Designers develop stronger documentation and modeling habits. Improve the TEECOM System - You reinforce firmwide consistency by maintaining clear, organized documentation that teams can rely on. - You improve project efficiency by identifying coordination or workflow gaps and offering practical suggestions that reduce ambiguity and rework. - You strengthen discipline processes by documenting client nuances, refining notes, and sharing lessons learned that drive continuous improvement. What Success in this Position Looks Like - You deliver accurate, well-coordinated discipline designs, drawings, specifications, and calculations with consistent follow-through. - You complete discipline tasks for projects independently—confirming assumptions, validating decisions, and asking clarifying questions when needed. - You support Project Leads and senior engineers by preparing coordinated layouts, documentation, research, product evaluations, and early design narratives that strengthen project direction. - You manage your workload effectively by prioritizing tasks, communicating risks early, and meeting deadlines across multiple projects. - You apply TEECOM standards and documentation practices reliably and contribute improvements by sharing observations, raising questions, or offering documented feedback. - You participate actively in client meetings and coordination sessions and produce clear notes that maintain alignment and capture decisions accurately. - You collaborate with engineers and design partners to identify coordination issues, document impacts, and support resolution across disciplines. - You maintain organized, up-to-date documentation in GitHub, Design Decision Logs, Asana, and Callback One and contribute updates that enhance clarity or workflow. - You complete daily time and expense entries accurately and uphold disciplined habits that support predictable project delivery. - You model TEECOM’s Core Values—Care, Trust, and Value—through clear communication, accountability, and dependable project execution. Responsibilities and Expectations - These responsibilities and expectations represent what is required to successfully perform the essential functions of this role. Annual and Quarterly - Participate in performance assessments and demonstrate measurable growth in technical capability, coordination awareness, and documentation impact. - Deepen discipline expertise through training journeys while supporting collaboration with Designers and project teams. - Improve TEECOM’s system through documentation updates, workflow improvements, and targeted Pull Requests. - Share feedback on standards, tools, and workflows to support continuous improvement. - Support design reviews by preparing coordinated layouts, calculations, and documentation. Monthly and Biweekly - Collaborate with your Mentor, Project Leads, and senior engineers to review progress, confirm priorities, and strengthen decision-making through clear communication and follow-through. - Maintain organized, accurate documentation that reflects design intent, coordination decisions, and evolving project requirements. - Support coordination and delivery planning by maintaining visibility into assigned tasks and upcoming milestones. - Maintain alignment with discipline standards, workflows, and project expectations through participation in discipline meetings and reviews. - Contribute to documentation updates, workflow improvements, and shared standards that enhance team consistency and efficiency. - Maintain accurate and timely time and expense entries to support delivery accountability. Weekly and Daily - Deliver coordinated discipline designs including layouts, documentation, calculations, and technical inputs aligned with engineering direction and project requirements. - Communicate proactively with project teams to identify risks, clarify scope, and maintain cross-discipline alignment. - Maintain accurate task visibility and project documentation including the Design Decision Log (DDL), Asana, and related tools to support delivery momentum and team alignment.- Participate in project and coordination meetings, documenting decisions and reinforcing clarity around next steps and responsibilities. - Execute design and documentation tasks with increasing independence while maintaining alignment with project priorities and discipline standards. - Collaborate with production and engineering teams to resolve documentation or coordination issues and support efficient delivery workflows. - Join daily huddles to maintain alignment on priorities, risks, and coordination needs.
