Job Description

Senior Linux Systems Administrator

General Dynamics Information Technology

• Configuring and maintaining the networked computer system, including hardware, system software, and applications. • Ensuring data is stored securely and backed up regularly. • Diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, networking, and system issues when they arise. • Replacing and upgrading defective or outdated components as necessary. • Monitoring system performance to ensure everything runs smoothly and securely. • Hardware sizing, Landscape Architecture and Storage planning. • Planning and scheduling RHEL server upgrade/migration and Servers downtime. • Planning and scheduling Physical 2 Virtual (P2V) migration. • Installing and upgrading Atlassian Tools (Jira/Bitbucket/Confluence and Bamboo). • Atlassian tools system migration and Database migration to PostgreSQL database. • Creating, updating, and organizing technical documentation and knowledge base for the team and other departments.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years of related experience in professional IT required, 4-6+ years strongly preferred
  • Working closely with Functional and Technical teams for OS upgrade (RHEL 6.x,7.x to RHEL8.x, and RHEL9.x) and Windows Server
  • Experienced in administering server-side technology and networked computing systems
  • Familiarity with SQL PostgreSQL, and Mongo database operations
  • Familiarity with Atlassian product suite and its operations
  • Previous experience with Intellij, Postman, VSCode, Node and ChemSketch
  • Familiarity with Docker container operations
  • Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree required, BA/BS in Information Systems, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
  • US Citizenship Required: Yes
