Role Description Our client is seeking an IT Project Manager to support both hands-on project execution and the continued development of project management discipline across the IT organization. This role operates as a hybrid between a senior IT Project Manager and someone who can help build and mature PMO processes. The individual will bring structure, prioritization, and visibility to a growing portfolio of IT initiatives while also directly managing key projects. The ideal candidate is someone who can both run projects and help establish practical processes and governance in a fast-moving environment. Key Responsibilities - Project Execution - Lead end-to-end delivery of IT projects, including system implementations, integrations, and enhancements. - Develop project plans, define scope, timelines, deliverables, and success criteria. - Coordinate cross-functional teams across IT, business stakeholders, and external vendors. - Manage risks, issues, and dependencies to ensure projects stay on track. - Drive accountability across teams to meet deadlines and deliver outcomes. - PMO Development & Governance - Help establish and evolve IT project management processes, standards, and best practices. - Support development of project intake, prioritization, and portfolio management frameworks. - Create and maintain project reporting, dashboards, and status visibility for leadership. - Bring structure and discipline to project execution without adding unnecessary complexity. - Contribute to building a scalable PMO function over time. - Portfolio & Stakeholder Management - Partner with IT and business leadership to evaluate project requests and priorities. - Provide visibility into project pipeline, capacity, risks, and progress. - Facilitate alignment between business needs and technical solutions. - Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels. - Technical & Business Engagement - Engage at a sufficient technical depth to evaluate solutions and challenge assumptions. - Ask the right questions to clarify business needs before defining solutions. - Work closely with vendors, consultants, and internal teams to ensure cohesive delivery. - Ensure solutions align with business objectives and system capabilities. Qualifications - 5+ years of IT project management experience in a fast-paced environment. - Experience leading enterprise software implementations (ERP, CRM, or similar platforms). - Strong understanding of IT systems, integrations, and SaaS-based environments. - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent projects. - Experience working cross-functionally with business teams, IT, and third-party vendors. - Ability to operate independently and drive outcomes in environments with limited structure. - Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills. Preferred Qualifications - PMP (Project Management Professional) certification strongly preferred. - Experience contributing to or building PMO processes, governance, or portfolio management practices. - Exposure to program or portfolio-level oversight of IT initiatives. - Experience in high-growth or evolving environments. - Familiarity with IT governance frameworks (e.g., ITIL). - Experience with tools such as MS Project, Jira, Asana, or similar. Success in This Role - Takes ownership of projects and drives them forward with minimal oversight. - Brings clarity and visibility to project status, priorities, and risks. - Establishes practical and scalable project management processes. - Improves coordination across teams and stakeholders. - Becomes a trusted partner to IT leadership. - Helps elevate overall project execution and discipline within the organization. Additional Details - Contract role (initial 6 months) with strong potential for full-time conversion. - Full-time hours (~40 hours/week). - Remote flexibility, with preference for candidates in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. - Opportunity to grow into a longer-term leadership role within IT project/program management.
