Job Description

Principal Quality Engineer

Westinghouse Electric Company

• Develop and implement supplier surveillance and oversight plans for complex and first of a kind procurement to ensure compliance with quality and technical standards. • Lead teams in the resolution of complex supplier quality issues which adversely impact product quality. • Perform independent assessments and oversight to confirm that suppliers have established, implemented, and maintained an effective quality management system that ensures nuclear safety‑related or augmented‑safety items, materials, and services meet all quality, regulatory, and customer requirements specified in purchasing documents. • Monitor progress and direct teams to achieve established quality goals within budgetary and schedule constraints. • Create certification documents, which identify the procurement requirements met by the purchased material or equipment, such as codes, standards, and other specifications imposed by Westinghouse Customers, for major equipment and components. • Lead assessments of the global supply base to ensure compliance with applicable regulations, codes and standards. • Evaluate supplier quality plans and processes to verify compliance to quality and technical requirements defined by Westinghouse Engineering. • Apply advanced quality control techniques and statistical methods for collection of deficiency information to identify failure causes and trends, rate performance and measure the effectiveness of supplier QA programs, and internal processes. • Write detailed segments of QA plans/programs according to current U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Westinghouse and customer QA standards for nuclear and non-nuclear facilities. • Implement policies on scope and retention requirements of quality assurance documentation.

Job Requirements

  • bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline , technical area or equivalent
  • 5 or more years of experience
  • An NQA-1 Certified Lead Auditor certification is desirable
  • Capability to explain QA procedures to internal personnel and external customers, subcontractors, suppliers and licensees relative to Westinghouse quality related products and services.
  • You develop solutions, plan work and set priorities while using a questioning attitude to identify risks.
