Job Description

Regional Ecosystems Director

Movement Innovation Collaborative

• The Regional Ecosystems Director will develop, manage, and support the design and implementation of regionally grounded frameworks, assessments, and coordination models that strengthen the capacity of key regional organizations to engage powerbuilding organizations across California’s regional ecosystems. • Lead the collaborative and iterative design of Regional Ecosystem frameworks, assessments, and coordination models in deep partnership with grassroots powerbuilding organizations, MIC teams, and strategic partners. • Support the experimentation, testing, and refinement of facilitation tools within regional ecosystems, grounded in real-time practice and regional context. • Translate learning from experimentation into practical tools, guidance, and documentation that can be adapted and applied by regional organizations. • Support anchor regional organizations to build the capacity to convene and steward Regional Roundtables as structured spaces for coordination, strategy alignment, and ecosystem learning. • Coordinate resourcing and support for regional organizations to engage in experimentation that strengthens regional ecosystem structure and practice. • Provide technical assistance and accompaniment to regional organizations implementing Regional Roundtables and related ecosystem tools and practices. • Oversee the development and implementation of regional ecosystem assessments, including regional landscaping and power mapping. • Work in tandem with MIC’s Movement Strategy & Innovation and Learning & Impact teams to facilitate sense-making and synthesis of assessment findings and implementation learning, informing program refinement, model development, and cross-regional comparison. • Design and facilitate learning processes, including Regional Learning Visits and cross-regional sense-making sessions, to support shared analysis and alignment.

Job Requirements

  • Deep alignment with MIC’s mission, values, and commitment to racial justice, equity, and democratic power.
  • 6+ years of experience in community organizing, powerbuilding, regional coordination, or movement infrastructure work.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and facilitating multi-organizational collaborations, coalitions, or networks.
  • Strong grounding in regional or statewide movement ecosystems, with an understanding of grassroots powerbuilding organizations, basebuilding, and movement support roles.
  • Skilled facilitator with experience supporting shared analysis, strategy alignment, and conflict navigation.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to translate complex analysis into actionable frameworks and tools.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects, multiple partners, and iterative learning processes.
  • Leadership style that is collaborative, adaptive, community-centered, and grounded in practice.
  • Comfort navigating ambiguity and experimentation in a start-up or growth-oriented environment.
  • High level of cultural competence and experience working across diverse communities, regions, and organizational contexts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize learning and present to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency with common technology tools (Google Workspace, project management platforms) and willingness to learn new systems.
