Role Description You’ll be a crucial part of product design and ideation and use your expertise in visual design and user experience to make our product something people love to use. This is not just a UX design position; you will be expected to have a strong visual design sense. - Designing the UI and honing the UX of a core pillar of PowerSchool's Allovue and talent software platforms. - Focused design tasks structured around quarterly product feature goals. - Owning and expanding our design system. - Creating and iterating on product designs in Figma. - Collaborating with our design team, product managers, and engineers to find the best solutions to tricky problems and constraints. - Having a direct hand in shaping product design around those constraints; you will have a direct effect on what form requested features take as they make it into the product. - Reviewing Pull Requests for design consistency and accuracy before they are merged. - Proactively asking for assistance and critique. Qualifications - 5+ years’ experience designing web apps or software. - A portfolio of work that demonstrates a strong understanding of UX and visual design. - Proficiency in working with remote colleagues and communicating across Pacific, Central, and Eastern time zones. - Experience using Figma. Requirements - Prior experience building Figma designs that make extensive use of components. - Experience building and expanding design systems both in general and in Figma. - Experience mentoring designers at earlier stages in their career. - Experience using AI-powered tools to generate interactive prototypes. • Support and lead UX design for the Kitchen Display System, aligning user needs, operational constraints, and product goals. • Frame complex, multi-role workflows (line cooks, expo, kitchen managers) into clear, usable experiences. • Partner with Product to shape requirements, challenge assumptions, and identify gaps or risks early. • Translate business and operational goals into coherent experience direction without over-indexing on feature-level design. • Design scalable, high-fidelity design for real-time, workflow-driven systems used in live kitchen environments. • Own end-to-end design across multiple KDS views and states, including station workflows, error states, and edge cases. • Create interaction models, patterns, and frameworks that support consistency across the KDS experience. • Deliver production-ready designs, specs, and prototypes that engineers can implement with confidence. • Act as the primary design partner for KDS Product and Engineering leads. • Facilitate design critiques, working sessions, and reviews to align across disciplines. • Communicate tradeoffs clearly, balancing usability, technical feasibility, and delivery constraints. • Ensure design intent and quality are preserved through implementation. • Design for operational environments where speed, legibility, and error recovery are critical. • Incorporate accessibility and usability best practices appropriate for shared, on-premise systems. • Anticipate failure modes and “unhappy paths,” ensuring the system remains usable under stress or degraded conditions.

• Own the Design System • Lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Replit’s design system. • Define and evolve core components, patterns, tokens, and interaction standards used across the product. • Ensure the system supports a wide range of surfaces, from core product UI to Agent flows, enterprise templates, and customer-integrated design systems. • Partner with product designers and engineers to ensure new features are built on system primitives. • Design for extensibility: support custom stacks, enterprise design systems, and customer-specific theming without fragmentation. • Improve discoverability, clarity, and usability of system-driven UI across key entry points. • Collaborate closely with design engineers on implementation details, tradeoffs, and system architecture.
