About the role - Policy Counsel ACT is seeking a curious, detail-oriented Policy Counsel to advance our legal and policy agenda and strengthen ACT’s strategic partnerships. Reporting to the Legal Director, this role offers a unique opportunity to develop expertise in novel and evolving areas of the law, including shield law protections, telehealth, and prescription drug regulation. We are looking for a creative legal mind to help navigate complex, shifting legal landscapes and support the expansion of telemedicine abortion care. You will conduct legal research, track and draft legislation, monitor litigation, and engage in policy advocacy in collaboration with state and national partners. Your responsibilities will include: - Legislative Advocacy: Track and analyze state and federal legislation impacting telemedicine abortion. Draft legislation and collaborate with state and national partners to advance ACT’s legislative agenda. - Legal Landscape Monitoring: Track litigation and federal action impacting telehealth abortion, conduct legal research, and work with external counsel to analyze potential impacts. Keep leadership informed of emerging threats and opportunities in real-time. - Partnership Engagement: Represent ACT in legal working groups and coalitions with state and national partners. Build and strengthen strategic partnerships to amplify our collective impact. - Advocacy & Representation: Represent ACT at policy briefings, conferences, and stakeholder meetings. Help translate complex legal issues into accessible language for diverse audiences. - Project Execution: Manage projects from start to finish, ensuring deadlines are met and stakeholders are kept informed. Qualifications: - A fierce and unwavering commitment to reproductive freedom and abortion access. - Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school. - Admission to and good standing with at least one state bar. - Minimum of 3+ years of post-JD experience in policy advocacy, ideally in state legislative advocacy within reproductive rights or healthcare law. - Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills; ability to synthesize complex information quickly. - Excellent communication skills with experience in presenting legal concepts to non-lawyers. - Ability to work independently in a remote, fast-paced environment with a high degree of organization. - Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects independently and meet deadlines with minimal administrative support and light-touch supervision. This is a highly visible role at the intersection of market structure, regulation, and innovation. You will help guide LTSE through the evolving securities regulatory landscape while supporting initiatives designed to modernize the public markets. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of SEC and SRO rules, along with significant experience drafting and managing rule filings. You will lead the rule filing process end-to-end - from strategy and drafting through submission and engagement with the SEC - serving as LTSE’s primary point of contact with the Commission. Working closely with teams across the Exchange, you will translate business initiatives into effective regulatory frameworks, provide strategic, risk-based regulatory guidance, and help ensure LTSE maintains the highest standards of compliance and governance. You will also oversee filings throughout the SEC review process, ensuring timely submissions and thoughtful responses to regulatory feedback. LTSE's Compensation Philosophy The target salary range for this role is between $230,000 - $290,000 with a mid-point base salary of $260,000. Base compensation is part of a total rewards package including stock options and benefits, and may include additional performance incentives. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually using multiple databases including Pave, Radford, McLagan, and other peersets, to ensure competitive and fair pay. To determine the compensation for the role, we use a data-driven, blended rate approach to ensure we are paying competitively among our peers by benchmarking to companies of similar size and stage, and hire at the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the salary range.
