In this role, you will… - Provide comprehensive, responsive, and timely legal advice and training to Claims, Underwriting, and Market Management on all insurance lines, with limited supervision. - Work with cross-functional teams to facilitate proactive and compliant performance of all company objectives. - Advise on claims handling procedures to prevent insurance bad faith claims related to coverage provided to and/or settlement of claims against MedPro Group insureds. - Execute on coverage issues, preparing appropriate reservations, denials, or other letters for Claims as needed. - Communicate effectively with important clients, business partners, and other attorneys on significant developments and unique issues that raise the potential for litigation on individual cases and across broader legal issues. - Consult with the business on the legal issues and implications of potential business decisions and initiatives, providing legal advice strategies and solutions for general business and legal issues. - Review policies and provide experienced coverage analysis. - Advise Underwriting on potential rescission/reformation actions and prepare appropriate correspondence. - Monitor and assist outside counsel in coverage-related litigation. - Assist Claims and Underwriting in responding to subpoenas and other legal requests. We are looking for candidates with… - JD degree from an ABA approved law school and licensed in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. - 5-8 years of experience as a coverage attorney; experience preferred in professional liability issues including lawyers and medical professional liability, including defense of such underlying matters. - Excellent oral and written communication skills. - PC literate with working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and Westlaw. - Strong time management, organizational and analytical skills. - Ability to work effectively in both an individual and team work environment. - Strong legal research and analysis skills. - Strong business acumen and ability to analyze legal issues from the business perspective. - Ability to handle many, varied legal issues at the same time in a fast-paced environment. - Ability to effectively prioritize assignments in a high-urgency setting.
