Principal Employee Relations Advisor

E-Verify Program

• Determine and recommend employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee engagement. • Act as an independent, confidential resource providing clients with analysis of facts, conclusions, and recommendations in response to internal and external employee concerns. • Provide guidance, consultation and coaching to management and HR Business Partners on sensitive work-related issues including conflict resolution, performance management, interpretation of company policy, culture, and values. • Work closely with the People Strategic Advising team to deliver recommendation that may include coaching, training, and/or corrective action. • Maintain a strategic partnership with Compliance, Legal, People Strategies and management to ensure alignment with Blue Cross NC’s culture. • Will navigate a number of different technologies and a significant amount of documentation for record keeping. • Maintain a strict standard of confidentiality and empathetic approach in handling company sensitive information, reports, and correspondence. • Focus on Blue Cross NC’s efforts to expand beyond the borders of North Carolina by reviewing legislature, notifying departments of any statutory changes to federal or state labor and/or employment laws, and ensuring company-wide compliance. • Partner with the Ethics team in conducting internal workplace investigations.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree (where required)
  • 8+ years of experience in related field.
  • In lieu of degree, 10+ years of experience in related field.
  • 8 years progressive experience in HR, including 3-5 years with employee relations
  • In depth knowledge of employment law practices
  • Prior experience supporting a remote and multi-state workforce are highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to establish credibility as a trusted advisor and confidant
  • Experience using a dedicated HR or employee relations case management tool
