VP, Actuarial
Wellvana
• Provide leadership and work closely with Wellvana’s analytics team • Execute on the strategy and manage the activities of actuarial activities, medical and pharmacy data collection and analysis, and trend analytics • Be a subject matter expert in Medicare Advantage and Federal ACOs, e.g., ACO Reach • Identify and design analytics to uncover critical business insights • Present findings in clear, compelling manner to senior leadership • Measure and project savings for new initiatives in collaboration with clinical leadership • Quantify impact of policy reform, population shifts, etc. on existing products and customer arrangements • Project medical expense for forecasting and monitor variance to budget • Prepare and provide supporting documentation for actuarial liabilities • Develop strong teams, create strong morale and spirit; foster open dialogue
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or related field
- MBA, MHA, MA, FSA preferred
- ASA designation
- 8+ years of actuarial experience
- 8+ years direct experience with healthcare data and analytics
- 4+ years of leadership experience in management of various levels of staff
- Extensive knowledge of Medicare healthcare industry and trends; medical, pharmacy/Part D, SDoH, behavioral health experience especially valuable
- Superior conceptual, analytical, financial modeling, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to effectively participate as a management team member
- Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation skills, including negotiation and persuasion.
- Medicare Advantage Part C and D bid development expertise

• Pricing, rate setting, product development support, reinsurance, and ALM Strategies for the Individual Annuities division • Recommending new money and renewal rates for The Standard’s individual annuity products • Analyzing new and existing product profitability and making strategic recommendations • Assisting with the analysis of flow reinsurance • Providing support during the execution reinsurance treaty • Working with corporate finance and accounting, corporate actuarial, deal team, and systems support • Supporting product development process via prioritization of new ideas, risk and financial analysis
