Role Description GovCIO is currently working on a proposal with HHS and we are looking for a High Performance Computer Engineer. This is for a proposal and will be remote. The High Performance Computing (HPC) Engineer supports and optimizes HPC environments that enable advanced scientific research, data analytics, and computational modeling. This role works closely with researchers, data scientists, and system administrators to ensure that HPC resources are effectively configured, tuned, and utilized to accelerate research outcomes. - Collaborate with researchers, data scientists, and engineers to optimize applications and workflows for HPC environments. - Analyze computational workloads and provide guidance on parallelization strategies, job scheduling, and resource allocation to maximize performance. - Support and tune HPC cluster environments including compute nodes, GPUs, high-speed interconnects, and parallel file systems. - Assist researchers with porting, compiling, and optimizing scientific codes using parallel programming models such as MPI, OpenMP, CUDA, and container-based environments. - Monitor HPC system utilization and performance metrics to identify opportunities for optimization and improved throughput. - Work with system administrators to design and implement improvements to cluster architecture, scheduling policies, and storage performance. - Provide user support and technical consulting to research teams using HPC resources. - Develop documentation, best practices, and training materials to help users effectively leverage HPC capabilities. - Support data-intensive research by optimizing workflows that integrate HPC compute resources with large-scale data storage and analytics platforms. - Contribute to continuous improvement of the HPC environment through testing, benchmarking, and adoption of emerging technologies. Qualifications - Bachelor's with 15+ years (or commensurate experience). - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bachelor of Science, Information Science & Biology, or a related technical field. - Experience working with HPC environments, cluster computing, or large-scale research computing platforms. - Experience supporting scientific computing applications, modeling, simulation, or data-intensive research workloads. - Understanding of GPU computing, containerization (Docker/Singularity), and modern HPC architectures. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills related to performance tuning and computational optimization. - Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to researchers and interdisciplinary teams. - Experience working in collaborative research environments or supporting scientific computing programs is highly desirable. Role Description - Gestionar, desarrollar y evaluar en ámbito técnico, económico y ambiental, alternativas de uso y disposición de biosólidos para V, VI Y RM. - Manejar las bases de datos para gestionar los biosólidos generados. - Apoyar a jefatura en control y seguimiento de contratos relacionados al transporte y disposición de biosólidos en suelos agrícolas. - Administrar contrato(s) de laboratorio para el estudio de suelos aptos para la incorporación de lodos, resguardando siempre los requisitos establecidos por la normativa vigente (DS4/2009). Apoyar en la gestión de otros contratos del área, entre otros de muestreo o de transporte de biosólidos y también de residuos. - Gestionar y dar cumplimiento al plan de aplicación anual de biosólidos junto con el apoyo en manejo de los planos georreferenciados respectivos (SIG). - Relacionarse con los Servicios Públicos, Autoridades y otras instituciones que visitarán los sitios en donde se están llevando las aplicaciones de biosólidos. - Buscar permanentemente nuevos destinos de uso en el área agrícola y forestal, así como también nuevas alternativas de uso (áreas verdes, aplicación en pasivos ambientales, entre otros) y materializar las aplicaciones respectivas. - Apoyo en la gestión de venta de fertilizante desde Rutal, estadísticas, control, búsqueda de destinos. - Análisis permanente de la gestión de biosólidos, considerando fuentes de generación y puntos de disposición final.
