About the opportunity Dayforce is seeking a Senior Design Technologist to bridge Product Design and Engineering through rapid prototyping, scalable UI architecture, and AI-powered experience development. This role focuses on transforming early concepts into production-ready solutions. You will build high-fidelity prototypes, define interaction patterns, and collaborate cross-functionally to ensure AI-driven features are usable, reliable, and aligned with enterprise-grade security and compliance expectations. The ideal candidate brings strong front-end engineering skills, deep interaction design sensibility, and hands-on experience prototyping modern AI-powered workflows. What you'll get to do Prototyping & Product Development - Build rapid prototypes ranging from interactive design explorations to coded, production-quality UI implementations. - Translate ambiguous product concepts into concrete interaction models, workflows, and UI patterns. - Partner with Engineering to align prototypes with scalable architecture, APIs, performance standards, and accessibility requirements. - Accelerate decision-making through iterative testing and refinement. AI-Powered Experience Design - Prototype AI-driven workflows such as assistants, guided task completion, conversational interactions, and agent-based automation. - Design human-in-the-loop patterns that maintain transparency, user control, and review before execution. - Implement structured outputs, tool/function calling, and workflow orchestration within prototypes. - Apply grounding and retrieval strategies to ensure generated outputs are accurate and contextual. - Contribute to evaluation frameworks that measure usefulness, correctness, safety, and latency. Design Systems & Front-End Architecture - Contribute to and extend Dayforce’s design system, including components, tokens, patterns, and documentation. - Build reference implementations and living prototypes that support reuse across product teams. - Strengthen design-to-development workflows, ensuring alignment between Figma assets and production components. - Advocate for accessibility (WCAG compliance), responsive design, and performance best practices. Responsible AI & Governance - Incorporate responsible AI principles into product interactions, including transparency, security, and privacy safeguards. - Collaborate with Legal, Security, Privacy, and AI teams to ensure AI features meet enterprise compliance standards. - Ensure AI-powered workflows appropriately reflect permissions and sensitive people data constraints. Leadership & Mentorship - Mentor designers and engineers on prototyping techniques and AI UX patterns. - Share best practices for AI-assisted development and modern front-end tooling. - Influence product and engineering decisions through technical credibility and execution excellence. Skills and experience we value - 6+ years of experience in Design Technologist, UX Engineer, Front-End Prototyper, or similar hybrid design/engineering roles. - Strong portfolio demonstrating shipped products and high-fidelity prototypes. - Proficiency in: TypeScript / JavaScript, Modern HTML and CSS, React or comparable modern UI frameworks, API integration and front-end state management - Experience collaborating closely with product and engineering teams in enterprise SaaS environments. - Working knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles. - AI Experience: Hands-on experience prototyping LLM-powered features. Familiarity with:Prompt/system instruction design and iteration, Retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) concepts, Structured outputs and tool/function calling, Agent-style workflow orchestration, Experience evaluating AI outputs for accuracy, reliability, and user experience quality, Ability to responsibly use AI-assisted coding and design tools while maintaining engineering rigor.
