Job Description: Blue Water Thinking is seeking Systems Analysts to support the Department of Veterans Affairs. Systems Analysts will support the VA environment by monitoring, analyzing, and troubleshooting electronic healthcare data transactions between VA systems, clearinghouses, and provider networks. Responsibilities include reviewing system logs, investigating failed transactions or batch processing issues, analyzing backend data flows, and identifying root causes for system integration issues. The Systems Analyst will work closely with development teams, business stakeholders, and operational teams to resolve technical issues and ensure reliable healthcare data exchange. Key Responsibilities: - Monitor and analyze electronic healthcare data exchange processes within the VA Payer EDI environment - Investigate transaction failures, batch processing errors, and system integration issues - Query backend databases using SQL to analyze transaction data and diagnose issues - Review system logs and operational reports to identify patterns or recurring failures - Perform root cause analysis and develop remediation recommendations - Support operational troubleshooting between VA systems and external provider networks - Collaborate with development teams and agile scrum teams to support issue resolution - Document findings and provide recommendations to improve system reliability and performance Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Healthcare Informatics, or related field - 5–7 years of professional experience in systems analysis, IT operations, or data integration environments - Experience working in federal government contracting - Experience working with relational databases and writing SQL queries - Experience troubleshooting system integrations or data exchange environments - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills - Ability to review system logs, transaction data, and operational reports to identify issues - Strong people skills Preferred Qualifications: - Experience supporting Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) environments - Experience supporting healthcare data exchange (X12, HL7, or similar formats) - Experience working in agile environments - Experience supporting federal healthcare programs or VA systems - Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future. - Must be able to obtain and maintain the required federal public trust clearance for this role.
