About This Role As a Solar Service Technician, you will be responsible for the troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. Your role will play a vital part in ensuring the optimal performance and safety of solar installations, contributing to customer satisfaction and supporting the growth of renewable energy solutions. This position requires technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with customers. Overall Responsibilities - Diagnose and repair issues with solar PV systems, inverters, wiring, and other system components to ensure efficient operation and reliability. - Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of installed solar systems to ensure optimal performance and compliance with safety standards, proactively identifying and addressing potential issues. - Perform performance testing and diagnostics using specialized tools and software to assess system efficiency and identify faults, making informed recommendations for improvements. - Safely handle and replace electrical components, wiring, and connectors in strict compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations, ensuring safety and quality standards are met. - Communicate effectively with customers to explain system issues, repairs performed, and recommended actions to enhance solar system performance and reliability. - Accurately document service reports, work orders, and maintenance logs for each site visit, maintaining comprehensive records for compliance and quality assurance purposes. - Adhere to safety standards and company protocols at all times, utilizing proper personal protective equipment (PPE) and following risk mitigation procedures on job sites. - Travel to residential locations as needed to perform service work, predominantly working outdoors and on rooftops, while maintaining flexibility to accommodate customer schedules. Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree or certification in electrical or solar technology is preferred. - Proven experience in solar installation, service, or electrical work, with a strong understanding of solar PV systems and components. - Familiarity with troubleshooting techniques and problem-solving skills related to solar technologies, inverters, and electrical systems. - Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local regulations as they pertain to solar installations and electrical work. - Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical information clearly and effectively to customers and team members. - Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively. - Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
