Job Description

Senior Tax Consultant, Property Tax

DMA - DuCharme, McMillen & Associates

• Provide support for team members in the assessment review process, including representing clients during appeals and hearings with state and local taxing authorities • Prepares reports and analyses supporting DMA’s position for state and local taxing authorities; reviews and submits periodic status reports to clients; prepares Reports of Findings and other general correspondence for clients • Uses DMA templates or valuation models for property valuation, fixed asset reconciliation or classification, determines client’s prior methodologies, identifies exemptions and abatements, identifying and reporting potential tax savings opportunities • Attend on-site inspection of client property (plants and operations) • Assists business development professionals in identifying, scoping, and developing customized solutions for new and prospective clients • Research, collect and populate DMA’s review management system with new cases, client assessment details, property or fixed asset data and jurisdictional tax information • Assist in production and invoicing process • Track and monitor all relevant jurisdictional deadlines associated with return filings, audits, informal and formal appeals & protests, mailing & payment dates for tax bills • Research and follow industry or market activity/trends in assigned geographic area • Research and follow state and local tax issues, legislation, court cases, etc. • Perform much of the above in collaboration with or supervised by Consultants, Tax Managers and Directors; while also handling less material matters independently

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Real Estate, Finance, Economics, or related field
  • 3-5 years professional experience; property tax, valuation, or accounting preferred
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated problem-solving
  • Organizational, research and interpersonal skills required
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize projects and deadlines
  • Valid driver’s license

The Tax Manager collaborates closely with upper management, internal departments, and external tax professionals to ensure accurate financial reporting and effective risk management. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise in accounting and tax code, excellent analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast‑paced environment. Responsibilities - Responsible for completing all state and local sales and use taxes and other tax compliance and reporting matters for the company. - Research nexus issues as they relate to the various lines of business in multiple states. - Assists in the development of income tax accruals and associated information in accordance with tax laws and regulations and related financial reporting. - Apply for and maintain all business licenses, FEINs, and related applications – registering new business locations and withdrawing when/where appropriate. - Prepare sales & use tax returns. - Responsible for all tax-related audits. - Prepare quarterly provision reports for management and external auditors. - Assist with special projects as assigned by management. - Prepares support documentation for tax positions and responses to audit inquiries. - Assists in the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, institutes and maintains other planning and control procedures, and analyzes and reports variances. - Prepare and review of depreciation reports used for return filings and forecasts. - Complies with all federal, state, local and corporate and other applicable tax laws, rules and regulations. - Furnishes internal reports, revises, and updates reports to be more useful and efficient, and furnishes external reports as necessary. - Interacts with auditors and assists with audits, as appropriate. - Keeps abreast of company policies and procedures, current developments in accounting and auditing professions, and changes in local, state, and federal laws, as applicable. - Maintains regular attendance per company policy. - Performs other job-related duties as assigned. - Promptly report any allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department. - Comply with VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and VytlOne’s Compliance Program. - Remain free from exclusion under the OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists. - Complete required training, as assigned, within the established timeframes. - Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position. Qualifications - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting from an accredited university. - CPA certification required. - Experience in the industry may supersede CPA certification. - A minimum of 5-10 years of Corporate and/or Public accounting tax experience (Big 4 experience a plus). - Accounting/GAAP and Tax Code knowledge. - Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (emphasis on Excel & Access) and knowledge of accounting systems. - Strong research and problem solving skills. - Strong initiative and ability to manage multiple projects. - Excellent communication skills. - Strong follow through skills. - Must be detail oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills. - Ability to work well with others, including upper management and outside tax professionals in fast paced, dynamic environment.
