Responsibilities OUTCOMES - Ensure Engineering Profitability: Manage resource allocation through accurate estimation, meet utilization targets, and ensure strict adherence to time logging standards. - Ensure High Engineering Performance: Guarantee project success through proactive unblocking, rapid communication, and meeting all security and quality standards. - Maintain Professional Standards: Ensure ongoing compliance with role certification standards and practice effective delegation. - Recruit & Retain Great Talent: Ensure 90%+ A-player acquisition and maintain high retention of engineering talent. ACTIVITIES - Estimation & Allocation: Create accurate estimates for every ticket to enable proper resource allocation. - Utilization & Logging: Ensure the team (including self) meets utilization targets and adheres to time logging standards. - Unblocking & Escalation: Reduce ticket overage by unblocking engineering team members and leveling technical issues up to the Head of Engineering. - Reporting: Report ticket estimate overages to the Project Manager and Head of Engineering ASAP to ensure project success. - Onboarding & Certification: Maintain updated milestones and dates in the Certification Planning spreadsheet for 100% of team members. - Quality Control: Adhere to quality and security standards to ensure zero requirements defects on projects. - Timeline Management: Support work-in-progress cycle times of < 2 days, code reviews within 4 business hours, and QA within 2 days. - Team Leadership: Delegate tasks using the 5 Levels of Leadership (p. 215) and implement Manager Tools best practices for retention. - Hiring: Participate in the hiring process using the WHO method to acquire A-player talent.
