We leverage cutting-edge technology like AI, blockchain, and stablecoins to make cross-border payments faster, more affordable, and more accessible than ever before. We are a hyper-growth Series B company, backed by over $100 million in funding from top-tier global investors, including QED, Castle Island, Switch Ventures, HTwenty, Monashees, and General Catalyst Customer Value Fund. We are a group of extremely talented and dedicated high-performers, united by our shared obsession with a single goal: empowering our customers. We are all owners of Félix, driven by a bias for action and a true experimentation spirit to get shit done with urgency and focus. Joining Félix means you will be part of a team building a legacy, a company that will outlive us all. This is a rare opportunity to apply your skills to a deeply meaningful mission—serving a community that has been underserved for too long. We are a team that is fiercely loyal to each other, where radical transparency and constructive feedback are how we grow and push for excellence. We are bold, we care less about what others are doing, and more about creating sustainable value and a product that truly makes our users' lives better. We are building the future, today. About the Role We are seeking a highly technical Engineering Manager to lead the team building the core, real-time Risk and Fraud Detection Platform at Félix. This is a mission-critical role: your team’s success directly protects our financial stability by ensuring a secure platform. You will lead a team of talented engineers, driving high-velocity execution and a platform-first technical strategy. You will balance between day-to-day team management and direct, hands-on contribution to our most critical risk mitigation systems. Responsibilities - Technical Execution: Act as a hands-on manager coding and architecting high-priority features for the fraud detection platform (e.g., real-time monitoring, rule engines, ML model deployment pipelines). - Metric-Driven Ownership: Take extreme ownership of the technical roadmap for the Risk Platform. Translate business goals (e.g., reducing fraud loss by X%, lowering false positive rates) into clear engineering objectives, and hold the team accountable for measurable business impact. - Platform Scaling & Resilience: Oversee the design, implementation, and scaling of low-latency, high-throughput systems crucial for real-time risk assessment, ensuring high availability and resilience. - Team & Talent Development: Manage team performance, provide mentorship, and lead technical career development. Foster a culture of rigorous code quality, transparent communication, and continuous learning, specifically in the domains of payments, security, and fraud engineering best practices. - Cross-Functional Alignment: Collaborate with Risk Data Scientists, Technical Product Managers, and Operations teams to define and execute the technical strategy that balances effective mitigation with a seamless user experience. - Process Optimization: Champion an agile development process with a bias toward action. Develop and implement strategies to optimize development cycles and incident response procedures specific to high-stakes fraud system failures. Requirements - Domain Expertise: Experience building, deploying, or maintaining high-throughput Risk, Fraud, or Trust & Safety platforms in a fast-paced environment is a strong plus, but not required. Background in the Fintech or Payments industry is also highly preferred, but not required. - Technical Fluency & Execution: Proven experience as a senior software engineer with a strong track record of delivering successful, high-stakes platform projects. You must be able to coach engineers on architecting resilient, data-intensive, and real-time systems. - Management Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience managing an engineering team, demonstrating the ability to inspire a team to operate with urgency and focus, and high quality. - Ownership Mindset: A track record of operating with extreme ownership in ambiguous environments, making high-impact decisions with incomplete data, and taking accountability for the business outcomes of your engineering solutions. - Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate complex technical trade-offs and risks clearly and transparently to engineering peers, product managers, and executive stakeholders. - Willingness to Learn and Adapt: While technology agnostic, a familiarity with our stack (Python, Flask, REST APIs, Cloud Services) is helpful, but the willingness to rapidly acquire deep domain and stack knowledge is paramount. - These are the applicable requisites, although equivalent competencies in any of the above will also be considered. What We Offer - Competitive salary - Initial stock options grant - Annual performance bonus - Health, dental, and vision plans - 401(k) - Remote work environment, although we have offices in Miami and México City and would love to work in hybrid model if you are up to it. - Continuous learning opportunities - Unlimited PTO - Paid parental leave - Empowering opportunities for growth in a dynamic entrepreneurial environment Equal Opportunity Employer At Félix, we are committed to providing equal employment opportunities to all qualified employees and applicants without regard to race, religion, nationality, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, or disability.
