We’re looking for a pragmatic, and business-oriented Senior Counsel to join our legal team to support a broad range of legal matters, including commercial contracts, legal operations, employment, privacy and security, intellectual property, and compliance. This is a hands-on, agile role that requires both attention to detail and the ability to think broadly across a range of legal domains. Success in this role will depend on translating legal guidance into practical implementation across the business. This role is ideal for a skilled attorney who is eager to grow within a fast-paced B2B SaaS company and gain hands-on experience across multiple legal domains under the guidance of the General Counsel. WHAT YOU'LL OWN & DRIVE - Draft, review, and negotiate a wide variety of commercial contracts, including customer-facing SaaS agreements, vendor contracts, and partner/channel agreements. - Collaborate with internal stakeholders—including Sales, Marketing, HR, Finance, Security, and Product—on legal issues and business risks. - Assist with legal support for HR and employment matters, product compliance, marketing programs, and privacy initiatives. - Identify and escalate legal and regulatory risks appropriately while recommending practical, business-aligned solutions. - Support continuous improvement of legal department operations, processes, templates, and playbooks. - Assist the General Counsel on projects involving governance, compliance, policy development, and outside counsel management. WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE - JD from an accredited law school and licensed to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction. - 5+ years of legal experience, including a combination of law firm and in-house roles (prior in-house experience with a technology or SaaS company preferred). - Working knowledge of SaaS commercial contracting and core legal issues impacting software businesses. - Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills, attention to detail, and an ability to translate legal risk into business context. - Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills and a desire to learn from and contribute to a high-performing team. - Self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is comfortable managing multiple priorities with appropriate support. - Demonstrates judgment, integrity, adaptability, and a commitment to continuous growth. - Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and sense of humor. - Privacy compliance experience a bonus. - Legal operations experience a bonus. The salary range listed is the base pay range for this position. In addition, the total compensation package includes bonus, equity and benefits. Overview Orrick currently has an excellent opportunity for a Managing Attorney in the Washington, DC office with consideration given for 100% remote US locations. Under the supervision of the Director of the Court Services Department, the DC Managing Attorney will primarily be responsible for advising case teams on federal and state court procedure and practice, calculating procedural deadlines in Compulaw and supervising others doing the same, and providing litigation related support to case teams. Responsibilities - Advise attorneys on a wide range of procedural issues based on technical knowledge of court rules and experience. - Review drafts of filings for compliance with court rules and judge specific requirements. - Handle electronic filing of documents in state and federal courts. - Perform detailed analysis and legal research on court rules, procedure, and case histories, as needed, using Westlaw, Lexis, Bloomberg Law, and similar resources. - Calendar the entry of litigation events in Compulaw based on court notifications, court rules, and attorney communications and review and supervise the entry of such deadlines by the DC Managing Clerk. Run reports in Compulaw and MyView. - Act as liaison between attorneys and court personnel. - Supervise the tracking of state and federal cases of interest through various applications. - Conduct searches for sample court filings, court records and dockets. - Supervise attorney registration for electronic filings and Pacer and troubleshoot account issues. - Coordinate service of process and subpoenas; order certificates of good standing, transcripts and other litigation documents, as needed, and supervise the same. Qualifications - J.D. required. - Minimum of 4 years prior related experience as a litigator or in a Managing Attorney’s Office or similar department.
