Role Description As a Director, Platform Engineering at StackAdapt, you will be directly involved in leading teams in the development of our integrated marketing platform and having a direct impact on the success of our company. You will work with large data sets and have exposure to modern tech stacks such as React, Typescript, Ruby on Rails, GraphQL, Golang, and more. This role is both strategic and hands-on, focused on scalability, reliability, developer productivity, and operational excellence. What You’ll Do - Leadership & Strategy - Own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for Platform Engineering, aligning with StackAdapt’s business and product goals. - Lead, mentor, and grow multiple engineering managers and senior engineers, fostering a culture of high performance, ownership, and continuous improvement. - Drive technical decision-making and set standards for platform architecture, reliability, and operational excellence. - Advocate for platform investments that improve scalability, security, and developer experience. - Platform & Technical Excellence - Oversee the design and evolution of shared platform capabilities such as internal frameworks, APIs, services, tooling, and developer infrastructure. - Ensure the platform supports high-scale, low-latency, and highly available systems. - Partner with Infrastructure and SRE teams to improve system reliability, observability, incident response, and cost efficiency. - Champion best practices in software development, CI/CD, testing, and system design. - Cross-Functional Collaboration - Work closely with Product and Engineering teams to understand their needs and enable faster, safer delivery of features. - Collaborate with Data, Security, and Compliance stakeholders to ensure platform capabilities meet regulatory and privacy requirements. - Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Execution & Delivery - Translate strategic goals into actionable plans and measurable outcomes. - Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform health and scalability. - Use metrics to evaluate platform adoption, reliability, and developer productivity. Qualifications - 15+ years of professional software engineering experience, with 10+ years in engineering leadership roles. - Proven experience leading web application teams in a high-scale SaaS or data-intensive environment. - Strong technical background in distributed systems, cloud-native architectures, and API-driven platforms. - Experience building and scaling platforms that support multiple product teams. - Track record of developing strong engineering leaders and building inclusive, high-performing teams. - Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. - Experience in ad tech, martech, or real-time systems is a strong asset but not required.
