This includes support for AFSC’s global just and sustainable peace work, global peacebuilding convening through the Dialogue and Exchange Program (DEP), support for other work relating to AFSC’s Just Peace theme, including country-based work and coordination with US peace programs. The fellow will also support AFSC’s efforts to influence the wider international peacebuilding system and help to establish strong global peacebuilding partnerships and alliances. The Just Peace goals include a vision for high-impact peacebuilding, to change the narrative around militarism and violence, the development and popular acceptance of alternatives to violence, influencing key decision-makers and non-traditional allies globally to choose peaceful transformation of conflict, protecting civic rights, amplifying civil society, and building social cohesion. A more specific work plan and key responsibilities will be agreed upon at the beginning of the fellow’s assignment with AFSC.
