Role Description C2’s client is looking to bring in a contract Website Developer to help in the team's mission to provide resources, spaces, and technology that encourage both individual and collective expression. This is a complex, senior-level role for a technical partner who will architect, implement, and harmonize a mobile-first web ecosystem spanning multiple related sites. The work extends far beyond stand-alone builds: - Design, connect, and maintain a scalable cross-site architecture. - Empower non-technical contributors. - Ensure strong SEO. - Enable secure artist self-service. - Position the ecosystem for future monetization, white-label, and traffic orchestration. You will collaborate closely with the founder to ensure that all platforms, brands, and user experiences work together seamlessly, including moving the client's platform long-term vision. Qualifications - 5+ years of professional web development experience (front-end or full-stack). - Advanced front-end development skills (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and expert mobile-first/responsive practices. - Demonstrated experience with WordPress Multisite and/or headless CMS platforms; strong comfort evaluating no-code/low-code options where appropriate. - Ability to architect seamless cross-site integrations, manage hosting/DNS, and balance flexibility with security and scalability. - Deep understanding of SEO, metadata, site structure, and performance optimization across multi-site environments. - Experience turning Photoshop, Figma, or Sketch files into scalable web builds. - Strong communicator and collaborator with the ability to translate technical decisions for creative stakeholders. Requirements - Evaluate the current landscape for all sites to recommend and implement the best long-term CMS/website architecture (e.g., WordPress Multisite, headless CMS, or low/no-code solutions where feasible). - Architect and implement a high-performance, mobile-first multi-site system that drives traffic from sites throughout the ecosystem and allows future expansion, templates, and artist self-service. - Translate Photoshop (and possibly Figma/Sketch) designs into responsive and accessible production-ready builds. - Build and maintain reusable templates for artist and brand onboarding, enabling rapid deployment and ease-of-use. - Implement advanced SEO best practices across all sites, focusing on intelligent linking, metadata, site structure, and performance. - Configure and manage hosting, DNS, and registrar setups across sites, ensuring security, maintainability, and reliable cross-site user experience. - Develop user permissions, training materials, and support documentation for non-technical users. - Advise on scalability, white-label, and monetization strategies as the ecosystem grows. - Collaborate closely with founder, providing clear technical guidance, creative input, and support for both ongoing needs and visionary road mapping.
