Implements and maintains operation and physical design of diverse databases. Conducts performance tuning of indexes, optimization of storage functionality (i.e. compression techniques or cloud offerings), and databases in general. Reviews database design and integration of systems, provides backup recovery, clones, and makes recommendations regarding enhancements and/or improvements. Maintains security and integrity controls. Formulates and implements policies, procedures, and standards relating to database management, and monitors transaction activity and utilization. - Design, implement, and manage scalable database architectures using PostgreSQL and Azure Database services, ensuring high availability, security, and compliance. - Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, stored procedures, and scripts to support data analysis, reporting, and ETL processes. - Administer and troubleshoot databases on Linux servers, including performance tuning, backup/recovery strategies, and system monitoring. - Integrate DevOps principles into database workflows, including CI/CD pipelines, automation scripting, and infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Ansible. - Participate in Agile ceremonies (e.g., sprints, stand-ups, retrospectives) to collaborate with development, operations, and product teams on data-driven projects. - Conduct database performance audits, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimizations to improve query efficiency and system reliability. - Mentor junior team members on best practices in database management, cloud integration, and DevOps tools. - Ensure data governance, security protocols, and disaster recovery plans align with industry standards and organizational needs. - Stay current with emerging technologies in cloud databases, open-source tools, and Agile/DevOps methodologies to recommend improvements. Qualifications - Proven expertise in Microsoft Azure, including Azure SQL Database, Azure PostgreSQL, and related services like Azure Data Factory or Synapse Analytics. - Strong proficiency in PostgreSQL, including schema design, indexing, partitioning, and advanced querying techniques. - Advanced SQL skills for data manipulation, analysis, and optimization in large-scale environments. - Hands-on experience with Linux operating systems, including shell scripting, system administration, and troubleshooting in production environments. - Demonstrated experience working in Agile environments, with tools like Jira, Scrum, or Kanban. - Solid understanding of DevOps practices, including automation, version control (e.g., Git), containerization (e.g., Docker), and orchestration (e.g., Kubernetes). - Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data issues and implement effective solutions. - Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
