Director of Workspace Operations Operations · Multi-Site Leadership · Remote (Near a Saltbox Market) Saltbox makes the hardest parts of running a small online business simple. Our workspaces transform into modern and flexible office and warehouse suites, packed with everything small businesses need to grow. Our Members span a diverse range of industries — Fashion & Apparel, Health & Beauty, Entertainment, Electronics, Household Goods, and beyond. Every day, we help small businesses thrive in their own backyard. We’ve been building something special. Now we need the right leader to run it. The Role The Director of Workspace is the operational backbone of the Saltbox network. This role directly leads our Market Leaders and owns the executional engine that powers every location — translating strategy into predictable, consistent performance across markets. While the VP of Operations defines where we’re going, the Director of Workspace makes sure we get there. You’re responsible for the operational and financial performance of each location: holding standards, driving P&L outcomes, developing strong Market Leaders, and ensuring that every Member — in every market — has the same high-quality Saltbox experience. This is a hands-on, high-accountability leadership role. You're both an operator and a builder — capable of running the day-to-day with discipline while building the systems and frameworks that allow us to scale. Because you are closest to the day-to-day realities of the workspace business, you are also responsible for elevating insights from the field — helping senior leadership understand what our members and markets need so we can continue evolving and improving the Saltbox experience. What You Will Own Leadership of Market Leaders — Build and develop a strong, accountable leader bench. Coach Market Leaders into confident, disciplined operators who execute with clarity, own their numbers, and deliver a consistent member experience at every location. Operational Consistency Across the Network — Create and uphold the unified Saltbox operating system: SOPs, operating rhythms, quality standards, workspace workflows, and team accountability structures. Every location should feel unmistakably Saltbox. P&L Ownership — Drive NOI performance through smart labor planning, occupancy strategy, expense discipline, and operational execution. You’re accountable to the numbers — and you know how to move them. Cross-Functional Collaboration — Partner closely with Facilities, Fulfillment, Sales, Product, and Finance to ensure seamless handoffs, aligned expectations, and shared accountability. You’re the connective tissue between the field and the business. Member Experience & Escalations — Ensure every location delivers a consistent, high-trust member experience. Lead escalations that require senior operational judgment, and coach Market Leaders to prevent recurrence. Capability Development & Standards Enforcement — Ensure that all training, systems, and operational standards created by our Operational Excellence team are implemented, reinforced, and adopted across every Market Leader and their teams. We are actively embracing AI and automation across Saltbox. This leader should be comfortable identifying opportunities to leverage technology and AI tools to improve operational efficiency, decision-making, and the member experience. How We Measure Success You’ll know you’re winning when the network hits these marks consistently: Financial Performance - Workspace revenue growth and service revenue - Labor discipline, controllable expense management, and NOI targets - Contribution margin performance across all locations Operational Discipline - Standards adherence and workflow compliance - Labor efficiency and operational systems uptime - Execution of network operating rhythms across all markets Sales & Occupancy - Tour conversion and occupancy performance - Local sales execution and pipeline discipline - Churn reduction and Member retention Member Experience - Member NPS and satisfaction trends - Consistency of experience across all markets - Quality of operational execution at the location level Who Thrives Here The best candidates for this role are multi-site operators who combine financial discipline with systems thinking and emotional intelligence. You’re not just good at running operations — you’re good at building the leaders who run them. You’re likely someone who: - Builds clarity and consistency wherever you lead — people know what’s expected and why - Is an emotionally intelligent coach who develops other leaders, not just manages them - Has strong financial instincts and knows how to move the numbers that matter - Can balance operational detail with strategic oversight without losing either - Sets expectations clearly, enforces standards firmly, and still builds genuine trust - Adapts quickly, leads calmly under pressure, and solves problems with maturity - Thrives in fast-moving, scrappy environments where you write the playbook as you run it Preferred Experience We’re looking for operators with real multi-site experience. Ideal candidates may come from logistics, fulfillment, warehouse operations, multi-unit retail, coworking, or similarly distributed operational businesses. - 7–12+ years leading multi-site operations - Proven success driving P&L outcomes across a network of locations - Experience managing managers — not just frontline teams - Strong background in operational systems, standards design, and process enforcement - Comfort operating within logistics or warehouse-enabled environments - Ability to build cross-functional alignment in fast-changing, high-growth environments - Clear communicator with high accountability and executive leadership presence Location & Travel This role is remote but requires proximity to a Saltbox market. Current markets include Atlanta, Washington DC, Dallas, Phoenix, Los Angeles, Denver, and Seattle. Expect approximately 30–40% travel to support Market Leaders and drive performance across locations. Compensation & Benefits At Saltbox, we believe in fostering a work environment that supports the health and happiness of our employees. We’re proud to offer a comprehensive benefits package, including: - Medical/Dental/Vision insurance fully covered for Employees, or a low premium for PPO and adding family members. - 401K plan options - Company-paid long-term, short-term disability, and life insurance - Generous paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays - Paid parental leave - Opportunities for professional development, including job training and a dedicated learning budget Are you ready to join a dynamic and fast-paced start-up?
