The Principal Software Architect is a senior technical leader responsible for shaping the architecture, standards, and evolution of our product ecosystem. This role will drive the design of our next-generation software platform built using agentic AI tools and methodologies, ensuring scalable, secure, and intelligent systems that accelerate innovation and delivery across the organization. They will partner with Development, Product, and AI strategy leaders to define the technical blueprint that enables speed, modularity, and business agility in our software products while mentoring architects and engineers across teams. Key Responsibilities - Establish platform-wide AI-native software engineering standards, frameworks, tooling, and patterns that enable teams to incorporate agentic AI across product design, code generation, testing, and automation (SDLC). - Lead acquisition-related architecture integration to meet Board-committed timelines, establishing a full software architectural perspective of “done-done” criteria and driving integration execution across technology teams. - Deliver measurable improvements to our products’ reliability, scalability, and performance through unified cloud-native architecture, resilient distributed system design, and clear API standards. - Define and communicate the technical software modernization roadmap, driving platform unification, cloud-native transformation, and AI integration sequencing in collaboration with product and engineering leadership. - Lead technology governance, ensuring consistent adherence to reference software architectures, design standards, performance requirements, and security best practices across all teams. Competencies - Demonstrated ability to operate as a strategic architecture leader, influencing senior engineering and product stakeholders across a complex technology ecosystem. - Strong capability to identify software architectural risks and opportunities early, providing clear guidance that accelerates delivery while maintaining quality and compliance. - Exceptional ability to translate business goals into actionable architectural decisions, ensuring alignment with long-term technology and product strategies. - Skilled in planning and guiding modernization efforts, including cloud-native transitions, API evolution, platform consolidation, and distributed system improvements. - Ability to establish repeatable governance processes (reviews, guardrails, standards) that create clarity for engineering teams without adding friction. Requirements - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience - 5+ years of platform architecture experience - 1+ years of AI focused architecture - Experience in companies with complex product portfolios (10+ products) - Experience in lean environment driving high productivity - Strong background in cloud-native architectures, API ecosystems, and large-scale distributed systems - Remote US role - Less than 25% travel required
