Role Description The Sr. Business Operations Analyst works with field operations and corporate underwriting to address policy issues that need to be corrected and/or changed. The objective for the Sr. Business Operation Analyst is to address Underwriting tasks: complex, exposure changing and premium bearing endorsement requests, bureau issues, audit and claim issues and other post bind policy issues and serve as a Team Lead. - Works closely with Corporate Compliance and Governance ensuring compliance with Federal and State regulations, Workers’ Compensation Bureau regulations and internal governance processes. - Addresses policy level issues - endorsement requests, bureau issues, audit and claims issues and other post bind policy issues. - Understands the policy level issues, works with the appropriate parties, and develops solutions to resolve those issues with little direction. - Ensures customer responsiveness goals are met while maintaining appropriate underwriting discipline. - Serves as a team lead, providing guidance to other non-senior analysts. - Reviews and approves referrals within their Senior Authority in the absence or at the request of the Underwriting Manager. - Supports the Business Operations Manager in managing and updating SOPs for the team’s processes. - Serves as the subject matter expert and designated tester for system upgrades, special projects, and updates including testing. - Maintain current knowledge of key Federal, State, Bureau and internal regulations and processes. - Monitors Bureau & DOI actions and works with Corporate Compliance and governance on business changes needed. - Works collaboratively with: Sales, Claims, IT, Legal, Loss Control, Premium Audit and Field operations (Underwriting and Underwriting Services). - Other duties as assigned. Qualifications - Minimum of 8 years of experience in the Workers Compensation industry, preferably with a field underwriting and underwriting support unit. - Senior level technical expertise, knowledge of key Federal, State and Bureau regulations, knowledge in how to get regulatory information. - Must demonstrate understanding of NCCI and/or Independent Bureau State(s). - Must have strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration, and influence management skills. - Must have superior analytic and decision-making skills. - Insurance Designation preferred. - Bachelor’s degree. Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
