Underwriting Associate

Cowbell

• Perform underwriting support activities associated with information gathering and clearance of new business, renewals, and mid-term changes. • Responsible for file documentation • Sends requests for additional information as required for incomplete submissions • Issuance policies as instructed by the Underwriter • Management of the follow up and diarying of subjectivities • Process and issue mid-term premium and non-premium bearing endorsement transaction • Provides administrative support to the Underwriting Team as needed for special projects or assignments. • You will learn the ins and outs of leveraging technology and data science as applied to risk management and risk selection. • You will learn the intricacies and details of policy forms, wording and pricing of insurance policies.

Job Requirements

  • Four year college degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience in commercial insurance products is a plus.
  • Capable of mastering multiple systems and have experience working in a paperless environment.
  • Strong competency in Microsoft Office applications: Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Ability to adapt to a fast paced, high production environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

The Senior Underwriting Director provides guidance to more junior staff and assists Underwriting Management with research and training of Underwriting Staff. The incumbent will also take the lead on high scope and complex Underwriting department projects. Position Responsibilities: Manage all aspects of potentially unlimited total line in close association with reinsurers. Select and classify risk according to company philosophy and standards. Participate in and provide a leadership resource for projects in the Underwriting Department. Be an information resource for underwriters at all levels. High level understanding of product pricing principals.
