Role Description Project Manager – Diagnostic Instrument Implementation This position location will be remote, based on the East Coast of the United States. This role is within our Abbott Core Diagnostics division. Our diagnostic solutions are used in hospitals, laboratories, and clinics around the globe. The crucial information derived from our tests, instruments, and informatics systems are often the first step in patient care decision making for hundreds of health conditions from heart attacks to blood disorders to infectious diseases and cancers. As a Project Manager, you will lead diagnostic implementation projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within scope. You will collaborate with sales and service teams to create project plans that meet agreed-upon solutions within the desired timeframe. You will be the primary point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle. What You’ll Work On - Develop detailed, cross-functional timelines that include resource requirements and management reserves. - Actively manage project scope, changes, risks, and issues, working with stakeholders to overcome obstacles and mitigate risks. - Maintain up-to-date project records in the enterprise management tool. - Recommend innovative ways to improve project management processes and performance within the PMO. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve conflicts, manage changes, and adjust activities to meet new requirements. - Establish regular communication mechanisms with Abbott and customers to ensure alignment and good communication. - Drive on-time project execution and customer satisfaction. - Lead the team in translating management and customer needs into project goals. - Identify resource requirements and time schedules for all projects. - Develop implementation plans, conduct risk assessments, and create contingency plans for unforeseen events and strategy changes. - Ensure projects integrate effectively with existing programs and strategies to achieve long and short-term business goals. - Maintain compliance with regulatory agencies, quality systems, ethics policies, and project goals. - Manage resources (both direct and matrix) assigned to project tasks, including mentoring and providing feedback within the team. - Ensure project requirements are met. - Serve as the project contact with third-party vendors. - Interface with other disciplines, customers, internal clients, project staff, and internal and external experts as needed. Qualifications - Knowledge of regulations and standards affecting diagnostics. - Bachelor’s degree in a discipline appropriate to the project environment with minimum 5 years of relevant experience, including one year of which must be in leadership/project management roles. - Negotiate with resource managers to resolve any resource limitations that cannot be resolved by the team. - Participate in division-initiatives to identify process improvements to accelerate projects. - Ability to travel up to 25% to client sites. Preferred Qualifications - Experience of at least 2 years of customer-facing project management. - Experience with using PM tools such as Smartsheet. - Comfortable with at least 10 projects or more at one time.
