About the role We're looking for a Financial Controller with deep crypto accounting experience to own Relay's financial infrastructure end-to-end. This isn't a role where the systems already exist — you'll be designing and building them. You'll own the month-end close, lead our in-house accounting infrastructure build, and be a critical partner to Data and Engineering. What you'll do Build the accounting infrastructure - Design and own Relay's in-house crypto accounting layer — cost basis, FIFO/LIFO treatment, on-chain transaction recognition, and multi-asset reconciliation - Define how Relay Fees, Gas Fees, and Rebalance Fees are captured with FMV, coin, timestamp, and rate at transaction level - Partner with Data and Engineering to build the wallet inventory, balance sheet inputs, and financial tables that underpin the P&L Own the close process - Run month-end and quarter-end close end-to-end: P&L, balance sheet and reconciliation - Establish mark-to-market processes and on-chain reconciliation across all wallets and chains - Drive toward a complete, auditable financials About you - You care deeply about accounting accuracy and build systems with audit-readiness in mind from day one - You ask the right questions and know how to work cross-functionally with Data and Engineering teams to get what you need - You're comfortable with ambiguity and good at staying focused on the highest-priority work when everything feels urgent - You're genuinely excited about crypto and on-chain finance Skills and abilities - 5+ years in accounting roles, with direct hands-on experience in GAAP accounting for digital assets: cost basis, FIFO/LIFO, mark-to-market, on-chain transaction recognition - Accounting systems design experience: you've built or significantly architected an accounting system - Comfortable working directly with data infrastructure; familiar with dbt, data modeling, and layered table concepts (you don't need to write the pipelines, but you need to spec and QA them) - Track record of independently owning month-end and quarter-end close with strong reconciliation discipline - Experience preparing for or managing external audits, with documentation and controls rigor - CPA or equivalent certification a plus - Prior experience at a DeFi protocol, crypto exchange, or blockchain infrastructure company a plus What we offer - Competitive base salary and equity in what we're building - Comprehensive health benefits - Unlimited PTO policy with encouraged minimums - Remote-first culture with emphasis on collaboration, communication, and flexibility

The Opportunity - Create and maintain a system of internal controls to safeguard enterprise assets. - Assure that all accounting is done in accordance with GAAP, including evaluation of stipend and patient accounts receivable, evaluation of payroll and other liabilities, and maintenance of ownership equity. - Oversee the daily operation and function of AP and AR team. - Generate GAAP basis entity financial statements and departmental and site-related income statements and balance sheets. - Convert GAAP basis medical group income statement and balance sheets to cash basis for cash basis income distributions and for tax return preparation. - Present financial information to CFO and Finance leaders. - Annually determine both the cash basis and accrual basis net income of the Medical Groups to facilitate the calculation of the profit distribution percents and provide information to allocate all the profits to the individual partners. - Monitor and confirm financial condition by conducting audits and providing information to external auditors. - Prepare special reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends. - Assist the Controller on reviewing all corporate and partnership tax returns prepared by our tax advisor. - Review and understand all state and local tax. - Comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, anticipating future legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, filing financial reports, and advising management on needed actions. - Assist the Controller with the recommendation on insurance strategy at least annually related to Cyber, Workers Compensation, General Liability, Malpractice, and EPL. - Evaluate potential liabilities and assure proper reserves are reported on financial statements. - Mentor, guide, and develop staff to achieve their career aspirations. - Evaluate staff’s performance and develops career tracks.
