• Serve as the functional lead for strategy within the VCT, setting team priorities and owning strategy-related frameworks, processes, and project outputs • Partner with the Managing Director and other VCT leaders to advance LLR’s overall value creation agenda • Continuously develop the strategy function within the VCT, including codifying best practices and establishing repeatable approaches / playbooks to value creation • Work closely with the VCT, LLR investment teams, and portfolio leadership to develop, implement, and assess key strategic initiatives to drive accelerated growth • Lead multi-year strategic planning and value creation plan (VCP) workshops with portfolio leadership and LLR investment teams to align on value drivers, strategic priorities, and key strategic initiatives • Conduct and oversee in-depth research & analyses, synthesizing information to create strategic fact bases, executive-ready materials, and strategic planning documents • Support investment teams during commercial diligence for new platform and add-on investments, including advising on market study scope, vendor selection, and strategic implications • Lead and manage relationships with external vendors (e.g., strategy consultancies, market research shops)
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; MBA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of experience at a top-tier strategy consulting firm and/or operational experience leading strategy in a corporate setting; a mix of both is a nice-to-have
- Experience in a high growth, lower middle market environment preferred; direct experience with SaaS or highly recurring revenue business models required
- Experience leading buy-side commercial diligence projects for private equity clients at a consultancy preferred
- Proven ability to work closely with CXOs and independently run strategic planning workshops
- High degree of emotional intelligence and a low ego, with the ability to navigate complex stakeholder dynamics
- Strong executive presence (written and verbal), relationship building, strong decision-making skills
- Ability and willingness to “roll-up sleeves” and work as an independent contributor, when needed.
