Senior Director – Software Engineering – Digital, IAM, Data Flows

DIRECTV

• Manage application release trains for delivery of prioritized business functionality. • Hold upstream product teams accountable for input quality and on-time delivery of requirements; partner with them to drive end-to-end efficiency. • Guide the teams in building delivery strategies that anticipate risks and improve quality and predictability of delivery. • Drive technical delivery excellence and efficiency through modern delivery techniques, including pipeline automation and AI-aided productivity. • Ensure that non-functional requirements are in place and comply with relevant regulatory standards and industry best practices, particularly in compliance, security, reliability, and performance. • Facilitate and resolve schedule and budget challenges that arise as requirements change or technical roadblocks interfere with delivery. • Solve problems in a way that balances time to business value, program priorities, and technical team efficiency. • Engage with operations teams to support recently launched functionality, coordinating defect prioritization and prioritizing product change requests. • Advise business partners on technical solutions.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; Master’s or relevant advanced degree preferred.
  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, ideally within a subscription industry.
  • Implementation experience with high-volume, low-latency data pipelines in cloud environments; hands-on implementation experience with identity and access management (IAM) platforms (e.g. ForgeRock/Ping, Okta) mature full-stack development and team management experience.
  • Proven ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, empathy, and support.
  • Expertise in project management and development methodologies (Agile, Scrum, etc.) and tools (e.g., Jira).
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic, data-driven approach to decision-making.
  • May require a background check due to job duties requiring routine access to DIRECTV and DIRECTV customer’s proprietary data.
