Medical Affairs Clinical Nurse Educator, Hematology Oncology
Karyopharm Therapeutics Inc.
• Engage community and academic oncology care teams, including physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other relevant HCPs, to understand medical education needs related to selinexor’s clinical profile, safety, tolerability, monitoring, and supportive care. • Serve as Karyopharm’s clinical education representative to the oncology hematology community and facilitate the appropriate exchange of scientific and clinical information. • Provide compliant, non-promotional education regarding selinexor’s clinical profile, including adverse event recognition, monitoring considerations, supportive care, dose modification concepts, and multidisciplinary care coordination. • Educate HCPs and care teams on practical considerations related to patient management, including proactive monitoring, symptom recognition, patient counseling, communication across care team members, and appropriate use of approved educational resources. • Utilize approved resources to address customer needs, ensuring all interactions are in compliance with Karyopharm guidelines, FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other applicable laws and regulations. • Appropriately triage unsolicited medical questions, including questions related to unapproved uses or emerging clinical data, to Medical Information or other appropriate Medical Affairs colleagues in accordance with company policy. • In partnership with Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Clinical Development, support the development and refinement of educational resources, FAQs, field tools, training materials, and HCP-facing content. • Provide internal education and coaching to Karyopharm colleagues on hematology oncology nursing workflows, multidisciplinary care-team dynamics, adverse-event education needs, and practical implementation considerations in academic and community oncology settings. • Partner with MSLs to identify hematology oncology care team educational needs and provide nursing-, pharmacy-, and APP-focused clinical education, while MSLs retain primary responsibility for scientific engagement with physicians, investigators, and external experts. • Support HCP understanding of relevant guideline updates, published data, and emerging scientific information through approved Medical Affairs processes and materials. • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of HCP interactions, medical insights, educational needs, and follow-up activities in accordance with Karyopharm policies. • Identify and report adverse events, product complaints, and other reportable safety information in accordance with Karyopharm requirements and timelines.
Job Requirements
- Advanced clinical degree or credential preferred, including RN, NP, PA.
- 5+ years of oncology, hematology, nursing, advanced practice, pharmacy, clinical education, or Medical Affairs experience required.
- Experience in hematologic malignancies, multiple myeloma, myelofibrosis, solid tumors, oral oncology therapies, gynecologic oncology or supportive care strongly preferred.
- Product launch experience a plus.
- Clinical experience in academic and/or community hematology oncology settings beneficial.
- Strong understanding of hematology oncology practice workflows, multidisciplinary care delivery, patient education, adherence support, adverse-event management, and supportive-care principles.
- Ability to translate complex scientific and clinical information into practical, balanced education for physicians, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and other oncology care team members.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Ability to excel in dynamic settings with short timelines.
- Strong written/verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to establish and maintain relationships with influential HCPs and multidisciplinary care teams.
- Thorough understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other ethical guidelines, laws, and regulations relevant to the pharmaceutical industry.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with Medical Affairs, Medical Information, Pharmacovigilance, Clinical Development, Regulatory, Legal, Compliance, and Commercial colleagues while maintaining appropriate role boundaries.
- Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel as necessary, up to 50% including some weekends.
