Business Development Associate

Affirm

• Drive new business by identifying, qualifying, and developing new partnership opportunities for Affirm • Collaborate closely with Account Executives and the rest of the Sales & BD team to strategize creative outreach campaigns and determine priority of outreach based on potential impact • Manage the first stages of the Sales & Business Development pipeline by performing initial cold outreach and nurturing leads through various inbound channels, including phone, email and social • Engage potential partners about their goals and challenges, and educate them on the value of Affirm • Contribute significantly to Affirm’s growth as we scale our core business and product

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
  • At least 1 year of prior BDA experience in an outbound sales role prospecting cold leads
  • Grit. Lots of grit. You need to embrace challenges and be willing to work hard to achieve audacious goals
  • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a quota-carrying role
  • The desire to pursue a career in sales, and the drive to be successful
  • Strong passion for E-commerce
  • Ability to work closely with multiple non-sales teams internally; legal, merchant risk, marketing, etc.
  • Excellent ability to communicate, manage time efficiently, and be extremely detail-oriented
  • A growth mindset and self-motivation
  • Ability to think creatively and critically and thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic, and often ambiguous work environment

About the Role: We’re looking for a Director, Business Development to help us expand what’s possible for patients with serious diseases. Reporting to the VP, Head of Business Development, the Director of BD role will be focused on the Search & Evaluation (S&E) aspect of the diligence and is expected to support and lead the technical evaluation (scientific, product differentiation, etc.) and presentation of BD opportunities to governance bodies. What You'll Do: In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to support the VP, Head of Business Development on diligence and transaction processes on technical due diligence and business case development. You’ll also: - Lead the evaluation of scientific and data-driven analyses and prepare written/oral summaries and presentations of the uncovered information related to new product acquisitions or mergers. - Proactively identify and evaluate external growth opportunities for inbound partnering/acquisition in new Neurology, CNS, and Rare Diseases therapeutic areas. - Continuously scout, monitor, and evaluate new technologies that may be of strategic interest to Insmed. - Build internal and external networks to proactively identify and assess new technologies and programs in CNS/Neurology/Rare Diseases therapeutic areas. - Participate, as needed, in evaluating early venture-like opportunities. - Support and conduct strategic, market, and competitive analyses of business development opportunities, including potential acquisitions, divestitures, alliances, and strategic investments. - Maintain databases of opportunities and historical records of previous evaluations. - Establish external and internal networks to support market intelligence and identification of relevant business transformation opportunities for growth. - Attend external partnering and scientific conferences and meetings. Who You Are: You must have either a Master’s degree and 5+ years’ experience or a PhD and 2+ years’ experience, with a degree in Biology, Immunology, Cell Biology, or Neurology, as well as 2+ years of experience in CNS/Neurology. Additionally, you have: - 2+ years of business experience, preferably in Pharma/Biotech (BD and/or R&D groups). - Exceptional knowledge of disease areas, drug development activities, and commercial processes. - Strong understanding of product development and regulatory requirements for early, mid, and late stages assets, with the ability to provide scientific support and communicate findings. - Enhanced scientific acumen, understanding of R&D/clinical data, and project management skills. - Experience performing scientific evaluation and diligence in support of M&A and licensing activities. - Basic understanding of financial analyses and willingness to learn advanced modeling. - Experience working in a matrixed team environment with ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external partners. - Experience presenting recommendations and influencing internal and external groups. - Excellent communication (written and verbal), leadership, interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Where You’ll Work This can be a fully remote role because the selected candidate should be able to perform effectively from anywhere while staying connected to your Insmed team and community. Occasional travel for team meetings or events will be expected.
