Senior Manager – Electrical Engineering

• Responsible for the execution of all activities of the electrical departments within the division • Schedule, organize, direct and review all electrical resources and activities • Provide enhanced customer support as a technical liaison • Identify resource and staffing needs, lead recruiting and interviews, onboard new team members • Direct and provide technical guidance to the electrical departments • Establish and execute operational plans for the department • Develop and implement policies, standards and procedures for technical work in the department • Research and stay current on emerging engineering design software and industry best practices • Supervise and review preparation of engineering proposals including scopes of work, project schedules and cost estimates • Promote Orbital’s safety culture through active safety engagements

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 15 years of experience in heavy industrial engineering projects
  • Successful experience in leadership roles managing engineering teams
  • Professional Engineer license
  • Working knowledge of analytical and design software such as AutoCAD Electrical, Revit, SKM and ETAP
  • Thorough understanding of current computer software including MS Office products and design software
  • Superior communication and interpersonal skills

Prepare and maintain reports detailing all tests, repairs, and maintenance performed. Knowledge and understanding of practical application of electrical theory and hazards in order to perform the job requirements successfully and safely. Role Description Welty Energy is looking for a Senior Electrical Substation Engineer to join our Energy team! As part of the Welty Energy Substation Team, you will represent our client(s) specific to substation design working on projects ranging from 12kV-500kV. While this position can be remote, the hired team member is to be based in the United States (currently). Relocation and sponsorship is unfortunately not provided at this time. Day to day, you may: - create and modify protection and control design drawings including, but not limited to one-lines, three-lines, AC schematics, DC schematics, communication drawings, wiring diagrams, etc. - create and modify physical drawings including plan and section views, yard layouts, bill of material lists, grounding drawings, etc. - perform calculations such as battery sizing, AC loading, voltage drop, conduit fill, lightning protection, lighting design, and ground grid studies. - perform reviews of Substation Engineers and Designers work to ensure they meet code, customer requirements, and good engineering practices. - coordinate with other disciplines such as project management and civil engineering teams. - interface with client’s engineering groups and project management team to provide regular and timely updates. - review manufacturer drawings. - incorporate red line drawings from the field to as-builts. - update design leads or project managers on project status as needed. - perform site visits when necessary.
