Role Description The Director, Data & Analytics is responsible for establishing and leading SCN BestCo’s enterprise data and analytics function. This role defines the data strategy, designs and builds a modern cloud-based data platform, and enables trusted reporting, advanced analytics, and predictive insights across the organization. Reporting to the CIO, the position leads the development of data architecture, integration, governance, security, and analytics capabilities, partnering closely with business and technology leaders to ensure data is accurate, secure, and actionable. This is a foundational leadership role focused on building scalable data platforms, teams, and standards that support informed decision-making and long-term growth. Essential Duties and Responsibilities - Lead the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of SCN BestCo’s enterprise data platform, including data architecture, integration, and analytics capabilities. - Build and maintain reliable data pipelines from SAP, JD Edwards (JDE), and other systems into the cloud using Boomi and Azure Data Factory. - Design, develop, and operate a dimensional data warehouse in Azure using Fact/Dimension modeling to support reporting and analytics. - Create and manage data marts that support business units and enable consistent, self-service reporting. - Oversee the full Power BI lifecycle including report development, data model optimization, publishing, and maintenance in Power BI Online. - Lead the delivery of advanced analytics and predictive modeling initiatives to support business decision-making and strategic planning. - Establish and enforce data governance practices, including data definitions, lineage, quality standards, and stewardship across the organization. - Define and implement data security and access controls, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements. - Partner with business leaders to understand requirements, prioritize initiatives, and translate needs into scalable data solutions. - Drive continuous improvement in data processes, tools, and standards to increase efficiency, data quality, and business value. - Travel required approximately 6–8 weeks per year (typically 2 weeks each quarter) to company facilities and key business locations for stakeholder engagement, team collaboration, and project delivery. People Leader Responsibilities - Manage, coach, hire, train, and develop a high performing team of data and analytics professionals. - Ensure continuous development of the Data & Analytics team. - Recommend personnel actions (pay adjustments, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc.). - Conduct performance reviews and manage individual performance. - Communicate personnel actions following human resources (HR) and department head approval. - Ensure safety and quality standards are enforced and met. - Partner with HR to interview/screen potential new hires. - Organize training and development opportunities for direct reports. - Oversee team and individual employee professional development. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, data science, engineering, or related field. - 10 years’ technical experience in data architecture, data engineering, analytics, or related roles. - 8 years’ progressive leadership experience managing data teams and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions. - Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise data platforms, including data warehouses, data marts, and BI environments. - Experience leading advanced analytics and predictive modeling initiatives, including working with data science teams or analytics engineers. - Experience implementing data security and access controls, including role-based access, encryption, and compliance-related requirements. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities (KSAs) - Proven track record of implementing data platforms and BI systems in complex environments, including ERP integrations. - Hands-on expertise with Azure data technologies, including Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, and cloud data architecture best practices. - Experience integrating ERP systems, particularly SAP and JD Edwards (JDE), using middleware such as Boomi or similar ETL/ELT tools. - Strong knowledge of dimensional modeling, including star schemas, Fact/Dimension tables, and building dimensional data warehouses. - Demonstrated ability to design and implement Power BI solutions, including data modeling, report development, publishing, and governance. - Strong understanding of data governance, including data quality, metadata management, data lineage, and stewardship. - Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions. - Strong problem-solving skills, with a track record of delivering scalable data solutions in complex environments. - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. - Must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with internal staff and management. - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. - Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. - Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. - Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors. - Must be able to demonstrate practical problem solving and troubleshooting skills. - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. - Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
