Senior Software Engineering Manager

• Collaborate cross-functionally • Partner closely with Product, Design, Customer Success, and Finance to align priorities and deliver measurable customer and business outcomes. • Build trust through clear communication, strong execution, and follow-through on commitments. • Hold cross-functional partners accountable to shared goals, enabling your team to focus on high-leverage work • Lead delivery and execution • Translate platform and business needs into clear roadmaps, milestones, and success metrics. • Own outcomes end-to-end: planning, prioritization, delivery, and operational excellence. • Establish and continuously improve team mechanisms across discovery, planning, delivery, and retrospectives. • Champion an experimentation-driven mindset by defining hypotheses, success metrics, guardrails, and rollout strategies. • Ensure results are visible and actionable through clear written communication (readouts, decision docs, postmortems). • Inspire, coach, and develop engineers • Connect day-to-day work to purpose by clearly articulating the “why” behind initiatives. • Build an inclusive, high-performing team culture grounded in trust, ownership, and continuous improvement. • Coach engineers through regular 1:1s, feedback, career development planning, and performance conversations. • Identify and develop future technical leaders in partnership with Staff and Principal engineers. • Raise the engineering bar • Establish strong engineering fundamentals across code review, testing strategies, system design, and documentation • Ensure systems are designed and operated for reliability, scalability, and resilience; lead incident readiness and post-incident learning. • Partner with senior technical leaders on architecture and technical strategy, ensuring alignment with business goals and long-term maintainability. • Enable responsible use of GenAI developer tools (coding assistance, debugging, design reviews) while upholding standards for security, privacy, and correctness.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of people management experience with demonstrated ownership of team delivery, growth, and performance.
  • 10+ years of experience building and operating distributed, event-driven systems in production.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to run effective delivery processes and improve predictability and quality over time.
  • Strong fundamentals in API-first system design and platform architecture.
  • Experience applying data and/or AI capabilities in production environments (e.g., analytics, automation, recommendations, or decision support).
  • Production experience with Java, Node.js, Vue, or comparable technologies.
  • Experience operating systems in the cloud (AWS or equivalent), including configuration, reliability, and observability.
  • Solid understanding of software quality practices, testing strategies, and continuous improvement.
