• Assist the Head of Tax in overseeing the domestic income tax compliance process, including a detailed review of all U.S. federal and state and local tax returns • Assist the Head of Tax in overseeing quarterly and annual income tax provision and reporting process, performing detailed reviews in accordance with ASC 740 and SOX controls standards • Manage processes related to all domestic indirect taxes, including sales and use tax, federal excise tax, property tax, and other applicable taxes to ensure compliance • Manage domestic tax audits by various federal, state, and local tax authorities • Proactively consider, analyze, and communicate the financial statement impact of business transactions/combinations, changes in business results, tax projects, and legislative changes • Perform a detailed review of tax reconciliations and tax journal entries and supervise the work performed by the junior team members to deliver timely and accurate financial results. • Develop tax staff by managing performance, setting goals, providing ongoing training, and maintaining strong employee relationships • Collaborate with external tax advisors, corporate accounting, FP&A, legal, and other cross-functional business partners • Perform general tax research to resolve issues • Assist with the creation and implementation of tax-related process improvements. Restructure responsibilities and simplify processes to maximize tasks performed by the offshore accounting function • Assist with other areas as assigned, such as tax incentives • Remain current on new federal and state tax laws and regulations and consider these changes from a tax compliance and tax accounting perspective
Job Requirements
- BA or BS degree from a top-ranking university in accounting/ finance/ tax required
- CPA is required
- 10+ years of experience in the tax profession, with public accounting or public company experience, strongly preferred
- Public company/SEC experience preferred
- Direct experience with PCAOB standards and SOX requirements
- Advanced knowledge of corporate taxation and ASC740 is strongly preferred
- Top-level critical thinking and analytical skills
- Positive, driven, and energetic; able to roll up your sleeves to get the job done
- Detail-oriented and exceptionally organized
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to think through complex problems, determine proper processes, derive tax conclusions, and present results to the team
- Able to multi-task, prioritize, and manage projects in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to be a team player, and ability to work well in a remote work environment
- Ability to train and manage tax professionals
