We partner with industry-leading brands to better manage residential energy for users by prioritizing efficiency, savings, and comfort — and cleaner energy for everyone. We are an Equal Opportunity employer striving to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive work environment where everyone feels that they have a voice that is heard. We strongly encourage candidates to check out our website at www.renewhome.com  to learn more about the world-changing work we are doing. Role Summary Renew Home is seeking a Sales Director, Utility Partnerships, to drive new business growth with utilities across North America. This is an individual contributor role designed for a proven dealmaker who thrives in complex enterprise sales environments and knows how to turn emerging markets into closed contracts. The role involves regular travel (approximately 25% or more) to engage directly with utility partners, attend industry events, and build relationships across the energy ecosystem. Renew Home is building the largest residential virtual power plant in North America, enabling utilities to unlock flexible grid capacity from connected homes. Our platform aggregates devices to deliver reliable, dispatchable capacity that supports grid reliability and accelerates decarbonization. This role is for someone who is energized by identifying new opportunities, building momentum with customers, and helping shape how new solutions come to market. You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, building executive relationships, shaping programs with utilities, and ultimately closing long-term partnerships that deploy grid-flexibility solutions at scale. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of the utility industry, distributed energy resources, and demand-side programs, along with a demonstrated ability to navigate complex regulatory and stakeholder environments to close multi-year deals. What Success Looks Like - Building a strong pipeline of qualified utility opportunities. - Converting strategic partnerships into utility contracts. - Helping position Renew Home as a foundational platform for residential VPPs. - Expanding the adoption of flexible resources as a core grid reliability solution. What You Will Do Own and Close Strategic Utility Deals Develop, advance, and close complex enterprise partnerships with utilities. Own the entire sales lifecycle—from opportunity creation and early stakeholder engagement through proposal development, contract negotiation, and deal closure. Create and Drive Pipeline Build and maintain a robust pipeline of qualified opportunities across utilities. This role requires a proactive hunter mentality: identifying whitespace, creating urgency, and converting interest into executed agreements. Market Creation & Strategic Positioning Help utilities understand the value of residential virtual power plants and flexible load resources. Translate emerging grid challenges—capacity constraints, electrification, reliability needs—into actionable opportunities for Renew Home solutions. Executive Relationship Building Establish trusted relationships with senior leaders across utility organizations, including executives responsible for grid planning, demand response, DER strategy, regulatory affairs, and innovation. Navigate Complex Utility Ecosystems Work across utilities, DER platform providers, program implementers, regulators, and market operators to align stakeholders and move deals forward in complex, multi-party environments. Represent Renew Home in the Industry Actively engage in industry events, conferences, and working groups to expand Renew Home’s presence and identify new opportunities to advance virtual power plants and grid flexibility. Cross-Functional Collaboration Partner closely with internal product, regulatory, marketing, and customer success teams to ensure customer needs are translated into scalable offerings and successful program deployments.
