Senior Associate, Anti-Tax Evasion Compliance

Coinbase

Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of? At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system. To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems. Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be. While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported. This role is for an Anti-Tax Evasion Compliance Associate within the Central Compliance team and will report to the Head of Anti-Bribery & Anti-Tax Evasion Compliance. In addition, the role will assist with certain core ATE compliance activities, including those related to governance of the ATE Program and assisting on ATE related projects. To be successful in this role you will need to be quick to learn the cryptocurrency business, have a proactive, enthusiastic and positive attitude, and have a strong knowledge of ATE compliance best practices. What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties): - Assist with handling routine ATE related advisory requests and act as a point of escalation for questions related to ATE risk. - Assist with ATE related projects, including designing and implementing controls related to the detection and mitigation of tax evasion risk. - Create and deliver ATE training to diverse audiences. - Provide subject matter expert support on anti-tax evasion risk assessments. - Stay apprised of changes in the crypto ecosystem and the ATE regulatory environment, including regulatory rule making, guidance, and litigation. What we look for in you (ie. job requirements): - 5+ years of experience in a similar Compliance/Risk/Legal function or role. - Working knowledge of anti-tax evasion and AML requirements, including familiarity with CARF, AML laws that include tax evasion as a predicate act, and the UK Corporate Criminal Offense related to the facilitation of tax evasion. - Experience designing and implementing controls related to the detection and mitigation of tax evasion and facilitation risk. - Highly collaborative and able to communicate effectively with varying audiences. - Ability to synthesize complex information into concise summaries and recommendations - Demonstrates the ability to responsibly use generative AI tools and copilots (e.g., LibreChat, Gemini, Glean) in daily workflows, continuously learn as tools evolve, and apply human‑in‑the‑loop practices to deliver business‑ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in efficiency, cost, and quality. Nice to haves: - Prior experience at a FinTech or a financial services firm. - Foundational knowledge of the crypto ecosystem with a strong desire to learn more.
