An overview of this roleAs a Billing Analyst at GitLab, you'll help support global billing operations across the order-to-cash process. In this role, you'll work on billing execution from subscription validation and invoice generation through reconciliation and issue resolution, helping improve billing accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems. You'll partner closely with teams across Deal Desk, Revenue, Sales Operations, Global Process Optimization, and other Accounting Operations functions to keep billing processes moving smoothly and to resolve questions with clarity and care. Working in systems such as Salesforce and Zuora Billing, you'll also help maintain strong data quality, support process changes, and contribute to a transparent, all-remote environment where workflows and controls are clearly documented and easy to follow. What you'll do - Review billing-related transactions and approve, adjust, or reject opportunities according to established guidelines. - Support subscription validation, invoice generation, and day-to-day billing execution across your assigned billing queue and regional portfolio. - Process system workflows that sync quote and billing information between Salesforce and Zuora Billing. - Monitor and maintain billing case queues, including Zendesk and Salesforce cases, and respond to billing questions and escalations in a timely way. - Perform billing reconciliations and oversee the quality of billing data inputs and outputs across recurring operational tasks. - Investigate standard and complex deal configurations, resolve billing issues, and escalate concerns to partner teams when needed. - Partner with Sales Operations, Revenue Accounting, Accounts Receivable, and other cross-functional teams to support policy-aligned billing outcomes. - Participate in user acceptance testing, process improvements, training support, and change management related to billing systems and automation. What you'll bring - Experience working in a high-volume billing environment, ideally with subscription-based billing processes. - Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy across transactional and reconciliation work. - Comfortable learning and using complex systems, with working knowledge of Zuora Billing, Salesforce CRM, and Google Workspace tools such as Gmail, Docs, and Sheets. - Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fully remote, asynchronous environment. - Sound judgment when reviewing transactions, applying guidelines, and identifying when issues should be escalated. - Clear written and verbal communication skills for working with internal stakeholders and responding to billing-related questions. - A collaborative approach to working with cross-functional partners across the quote-to-cash process. - Experience supporting documentation, training, testing, or continuous process improvement is helpful. - Familiarity with Slack is preferred but not required. About the teamThe Billing team within Billing and Accounts Receivable, part of Accounting Operations, is a centralized, cross-functional partner to teams across GitLab's quote-to-cash cycle. We support billing execution from subscription validation and invoice generation through escalation resolution and reconciliation, working closely with partners in Deal Desk, Revenue, Sales Operations, Global Process Optimization, and other Accounting Operations teams. You'll join a fully remote, globally distributed team operating across AMER, EMEA, and APJ time zones that collaborates asynchronously by default. We document workflows, controls, and process changes in GitLab issues and shared documentation so our work stays transparent, consistent, and easy to follow. We’re focused on strengthening billing accuracy and completeness, improving data and process consistency across systems like Salesforce and Zuora Billing, and making it easier for cross-functional partners to get clear, timely answers to billing questions.
