Role We are seeking an experienced Credit Analyst to cover U.S. leveraged loan situations across the credit lifecycle. This role sits within a team of sixteen analysts covering both performing and distressed credits and will contribute directly to the team’s research coverage. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience covering primary and performing credits or distressed debt and restructuring situations. The analyst will be responsible for publishing high-quality credit research reports with actionable investment ideas, focusing on fundamental credit analysis, relative value analysis, liability management, and valuation. The role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with our legal and cross-functional research teams to produce differentiated, cross-disciplinary analysis for our subscribers, which include leading institutional asset managers, hedge funds, investment banks, trading desks, and financial and legal advisors. This position also involves regular client interaction, including discussing research insights and market developments with subscribers. What we offer: - Senior role with a team of experienced, passionate analysts who you will work alongside, to develop best-in-class, in depth credit analysis that will be published to the leveraged finance market, including institutional investors, law firms and investment banks - Generous benefits packages - Flexible remote work opportunity - Fast growth environment with progression opportunities Responsibilities - Ensure coverage of a portfolio of US performing leveraged loan borrowers across different stages of lifecycle and lead primary analysis work - Conduct fundamental credit analysis, relative value analysis and build forward looking valuation models with an aim of producing actionable credit ideas for our subscribers - As a senior member of the team, you will also be expected to generate coverage ideas and to maintain an active dialogue with industry contacts. You will get direct exposure to the buy side, sell side and various advisors on a daily basis - Get involved in training and mentoring other junior analysts in the team - Follow industry trends in the broader market to help guide coverage - Support and collaborate with our top-tier legal analysts highlight Octus’s value add in topical credit situations Requirements - Minimum of 5+ years of credit research experience from buy side, sell side, or rating agency, with significant time spent in either a client-facing or decision-making role - Experience should include leading coverage and monitoring of credits and sectors and experience with primary market/new issues and legal documentation and/or identifying distressed debt opportunities, building cash flow projections, recovery estimates, and experience with restructuring proceedings and legal documentation - Experience in building and maintaining financial and valuation models - Possess very strong technical and analytical skills as well as excellent written and oral communication abilities At Octus, we consider a range of factors in connection with compensation decisions, including experience, skills, location, and our business needs and limitations. As a result, compensation may vary within and across similar roles and positions. Please note that the salary range information below is a good faith estimate for this position and actual compensation for any individual may fall outside this range if warranted by the circumstances applicable to that individual. If we identify a role that would be suitable for a broader range of skills and experience such that we would consider hiring at multiple levels then the range listed below may reflect that breadth. The salary range estimate for this position is $150,000 - $170,000 The actual compensation will be at Octus’ sole discretion and will be determined by the aforementioned and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for an annual year-end performance bonus. AES is currently seeking a Senior Real Estate Analyst to assist the development efforts as a member of AES’s Real Estate team. The Real Estate team is responsible for development and financing of all real estate efforts related to wind, solar, and solar + storage projects throughout the country. The successful candidate will work on the Real Estate team, reporting to a Real Estate Project Manager. This is a fast-paced role working with internal and external key stakeholders and will provide immediate exposure to all aspects of renewable energy real estate matters. This position will be based in one of AES Clean Energy offices: Salt Lake City, UT; Louisville, CO; or remote. The role requires the ability to work on multiple tasks and projects and may include some travel as needed. The successful candidate will work on a cross functional team with origination, project development, legal, finance, engineering, construction, and outside consultants, attorneys, surveyors, landowners, customers, project stakeholders, and utility companies. Key Responsibilities: • Manage projects with the oversight of a project manager • Assist Real Estate Project Managers in all aspects of real estate development of renewable energy projects • Review title reports and create a title curative plans, including fatal flaw analyses on potential land purchases and project acquisitions • Review ALTA surveys for accuracy • Assist in and manage title curative activities such as mineral searches and analyses, obtaining quitclaim deeds, crossing consents from utility providers, third-party access and/or utility easements, and mortgage subordinations, with oversight and mentoring from a project manager. • Assist in and manage all real estate aspects of project development, construction, and financing, including ongoing survey activities, site plan review and buildable area analyses, site visits, and negotiations with investors and title companies to obtain suitable lender’s and owner’s title policies; with oversight and mentoring from a project manager. • Communicate and work collaboratively with title companies, real estate brokers, surveyors, government entities, landowners, real estate and finance attorneys, and AES team members to mitigate risks and work toward obtaining title policies for project finance. Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree or 2 to 4 years of real estate/land development experience in renewable energy or related field • Experience in some but not necessarily all aspects of Real Estate in renewable energy development, and openness to grow through mentorship and project training • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software • Knowledge of GIS and Google Earth preferred • Passion for renewable energy development • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including interpersonal communication skills • Self-starter, very self-reliant and capable of operating with minimum supervision AES is an Equal Opportunity Employer who is committed to building strength and delivering long-term sustainability through diversity and inclusion.
