Communications Specialist

Ascension

• Support cross-team communications and marketing efforts, helping align messaging, assets, and strategy so our work speaks with one unified voice • Create, maintain, and improve brand resources (e.g., guidelines, templates, and best-practices, so our mission is communicated clearly and faithfully wherever it appears. • Assist with Ascension’s organic social media presence, helping bring thoughtful, life-changing content to life across platforms • Support short-form video growth by clipping, formatting, posting, and researching trends to help timeless truths reach people in today’s digital spaces • Support creator and digital evangelist collaborations by assisting with outreach, coordination, asset collection, and post tracking to build mission-aligned content and partnerships • Track and report social media performance, translating reach, engagement, and growth into insights that help serve our audience better • Monitor platform changes and social trends, sharing relevant insights so the team can respond wisely and creatively • Support public relations efforts, by supporting interviews, polishing press releases and media pitches, and maintaining press materials such as media kits, bios, fact sheets, and awards lists to help tell our story beyond our own channels • Assist with award submissions, conferences, and sponsorship opportunities, helping extend Ascension's presence in the broader Catholic and media landscape • Apply and uphold brand and style guidelines across social, communications, and creator content, protecting the trust our audience places in us

Job Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience developing content and managing social properties in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrate experience with social media platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X, etc.
  • Familiar with leveraging social media management and analytics tools with the leading social media dashboards and platforms.
  • Strong ability to write, edit, and craft excellent, relevant, and fresh content for social media and communications
  • Experience with Photoshop, Canva, or other photo editing software.
  • Excellent writing, copy editing, interpersonal, and verbal skills needed.
  • Familiarity with the Catholic faith.
  • Excellent copywriting skills, including the ability to imitate branded writing styles
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and taking ownership or collaborating as needed to accomplish complex projects.
  • Ability to learn new systems and technical skills quickly.
  • Experimental mindset and demonstrable ability to design impactful and efficient validation strategies.
  • May need availability some nights and weekends to post to social media, assist with time-sensitive product launches, or staff digital events (flex-time provided).
  • The ability to travel to Ascension’s headquarters in Pennsylvania several times per year is required.
