Role Description ENERGY SYSTEMS GROUP is looking for a Senior Commissioning Specialist to join our Public Sector Southwest team. This position will be virtual, but the candidate should reside in New Mexico, Colorado, or Texas. This position requires approximately 45% travel. The ideal candidate for this position must have outstanding decision-making and problem-solving skills. This individual must thrive in an innovative, dedicated, and collaborative company culture. This individual will be responsible for executing daily commissioning activities to achieve business unit goals and maximize profitability. - Support with developing and executing the company's overall mission, values, and strategic goals. - Prioritize objectives and implement strategies to achieve company initiatives. - Identify opportunities to maximize the company's operating performance and achieving its financial goals. - Drive collaboration across the organization to identify needs and develop scalable solutions. - Find ways to save the company money by improving/streamlining internal systems or procedures. - Participate in internal risk mitigation meetings across the organization. - Establish and maintain enduring client relationships. - Maintain knowledge and proficiency in BCA, NEBB and ASHRAE commissioning procedures. - Serve as a single point of contact internally and externally regarding commissioning projects. - Develop and manage project specific commissioning plans, commissioning procedures, and schedules from pre-startup to test-adjust-balance field work. - Perform technical reviews of design documents and submittals specific to lighting, HVAC, plumbing, and building automation systems. - Establish trend/data logging plans to validate proper equipment operation during the performance period. - Perform routine assessment of equipment operation through remote access and/or visit to the project site. - Develop pre-functional checklists and functional performance test procedures. - Perform functional performance tests on lighting, HVAC, plumbing and controls systems with stand-alone controls and/or integrated into a building automation system. - Coordinate with project teams to identify and understand the client’s objectives. Clearly communicate these priorities to the team assigned to the project and ensure they are addressed. - Serve as a technical commissioning resource in communications with the client. - Provide commissioning guidance throughout development, construction, and operations, including scope definition, proposals, reports, cost estimates, and presentations. - Maintain awareness of new technologies, strategies, industry developments and standards. - Participate in local industry organizations (e.g., BCA, AEE, ASHRAE, etc.) and encourage community involvement. - Maintain knowledge of existing and upcoming building and energy codes that directly impact our core business. - Develop and maintain strong working relationships with customers during the post-construction and performance assurance project phases. - Develop junior staff to the next level by setting expectations, providing effective (positive and critical), and promoting growth opportunities. - Identify, document, and validate customer responsibilities during the performance period. - Assist in the development of project Measurement and Verification (M&V) plans that meet Yearout Energy and industry best practices. - Perform pre- and post-construction period M&V activities and provide support during commissioning to validate performance. - Assist in the development and validation of all project savings calculations. - Assist in onboarding a project into online utility management platform, bill entry, flag analysis and resolution, rate analysis, report/memo writing, and customer support. - Support the team through all project phases. - Consistently demonstrate ability to successfully move into problem-solving mode whenever challenges or concerns arise. Quickly address internal and external escalating issues. - Work well with and demonstrate respect for colleagues at all levels and consistently contribute to a positive work environment for the entire staff. - Develop relationships with vendors, contractors and other like-minded companies that support our projects. - Consistently meet internal and external deadlines. - Ensure company policies and procedures are followed. - Promote an injury free work environment. - Promote a productive working atmosphere and champion continuous improvement efforts. - Other duties as assigned.
