We are seeking a detail‑oriented, security‑focused GitHub Administrator to manage and optimize our organization’s GitHub environment. This role will own governance, access controls, automation, compliance enforcement, and developer enablement across GitHub Enterprise/Cloud. The ideal candidate brings strong Git expertise, deep understanding of security best practices, and a passion for improving developer workflows. You will ensure our GitHub ecosystem remains secure, compliant, well‑organized, and highly efficient for all engineering teams. Responsibilities GitHub Administration & Governance - Manage organization settings, repositories, teams, and permissions within GitHub Enterprise/Cloud. - Design and maintain branching strategies and repository standards. - Implement and enforce access control policies (RBAC). - Oversee the full repository lifecycle (creation, archiving, deletion). Security & Compliance - Configure and monitor GitHub security features (Dependabot, secret scanning, code scanning). - Enforce branch protection rules and required reviews. - Implement SSO, SCIM provisioning, and integrations with identity providers. - Participate in access audits and compliance reporting cycles. - Ensure adherence to internal security and regulatory standards. Developer Enablement & Support - Provide guidance on Git workflows and best practices. - Create and maintain documentation and training materials. - Support developers with repository, automation, and workflow questions. - Drive initiatives that improve developer productivity and workflow efficiency. Monitoring & Reporting - Track repository usage, workflow performance, and security metrics. - Generate periodic reports on code quality, vulnerabilities, and activity trends. Requirements Required Qualifications - 3+ years administering GitHub Enterprise (Cloud or Server). - Strong understanding of Git version control concepts and branching strategies. - Experience with GitHub Actions and CI/CD pipelines. - Familiarity with SSO, SCIM, and identity management integrations. - Knowledge of secure coding and DevSecOps best practices. - Experience scripting with PowerShell, Bash, or Python. - Strong troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills. Preferred Qualifications - Experience working in regulated environments (SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA, etc.). - Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform). - Experience integrating with GitHub REST or GraphQL APIs. - Background in DevOps or platform engineering. - GitHub certifications (GitHub Admin, GitHub Actions, etc.).
