About the Role The Engineer is responsible for supporting detailed engineering development across multiple retail and commercial programs. This position plays a key role in translating design intent into accurate, manufacturable engineering packages while coordinating closely with internal teams and our idX China division. The Engineer ensures drawings, BOMs, and technical requirements are clear, complete, and aligned with program needs. This role requires strong project management discipline, consistent communication, and the ability to manage workstreams that may require off‑hours coordination due to China-based engineering workflows. The ideal candidate brings technical expertise, strong organizational skills, and the ability to operate confidently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Location: This is a remote role and all candidates will be considered, though there will be a preference placed on candidates near St. Louis, MO. Key Responsibilities Engineering Development & Coordination - Produce accurate engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical documentation for assigned programs. - Coordinate daily with idX China engineering teams to review progress, clarify details, and resolve issues. - Translate design intent into manufacturable solutions that meet cost, quality, and timeline expectations. - Review engineering work for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with project requirements. Project Management & Cross-Functional Alignment - Manage engineering schedules, deliverables, and resource needs across multiple concurrent programs. - Collaborate with Project Management, Estimating, Manufacturing, and Account teams to ensure technical alignment. - Identify engineering risks early and provide mitigation options to protect schedule and quality. - Maintain clear, timely communication with all stakeholders, including off‑hours coordination as required. Technical Problem Solving & Execution - Evaluate materials, construction methods, and manufacturing requirements. - Provide value engineering options where appropriate. - Support prototype reviews, shop questions, and manufacturing handoff activities. - Ensure adherence to idX engineering standards and documentation protocols. Documentation & Reporting - Maintain organized engineering files, revisions, and supporting data. - Document changes, clarifications, and decisions for internal and China teams. - Support final engineering package releases and production turnover requirements. Desired Skills & Experience - Experience in engineering for retail fixtures, millwork, metal fabrication, or related manufacturing fields. - Strong project management skills and ability to manage multiple deliverables. - Ability to work effectively with offshore engineering teams; international coordination experience preferred. - Willingness to work outside standard U.S. hours when required to support China engineering schedules. - Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal. - High attention to detail and strong technical problem-solving skills. - Proficiency in engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks) preferred.
