Tax Manager – Audits & Business Incentives
NFI Group Inc. (TSX: NFI, OTC: NFYEF; TSX: NFI.DB)
• Monitor federal, state, and local legislative developments to identify potential credits, incentives, and funding programs applicable to NFI operations. • Report quarterly to Senior Management on emerging and active Business Incentive opportunities. • Oversee existing Business Incentive programs and collaborate with external consultants to ensure compliance, maximization, and realization of financial benefits. • Prepare, submit, and manage Business Incentive applications; represent NFI’s interests at hearings, meetings, and with relevant government entities. • Track and monitor the monetization of approved Business Incentives and ensure alignment with financial submissions and reporting. • Provide regular written and verbal analysis—including recommendations—on Business Incentive and credit opportunities to Senior Management. • Collaborate with industry associations to stay informed on evolving credit and funding initiatives. • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering (Facilities) to pursue incentives tied to business expansion and capital projects (e.g., property or use tax abatements, utility incentives, or wage credits). • Oversee and respond to state income tax audits, coordinating directly with the U.S. Direct Tax team to collect and provide documentation. • Manage and report on all Direct and Indirect tax audits across NFI Group, collaborating with U.S., Canadian, and U.K. Tax Managers to ensure consolidated reporting. • Lead U.S. Sales & Use tax audits, ensuring timely, complete, and accurate responses. • Identify process improvements and best practices based on audit findings and prior experience. • Prepare and file Federal Excise Tax returns and support other ad hoc (including IRS) filing requirements as needed. • Provide ad hoc support for potential Voluntary Disclosure Agreements (VDAs) or missed filings.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting required.
- CPA designation preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax, finance, or public accounting.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Indirect Tax, with a strong understanding of U.S. tax determination rules.
- Experience in project and program management, including documentation, audit coordination, and cross-functional collaboration.
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication abilities.
- Ability to work independently, proactively pursue opportunities, and manage multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with standard business software tools (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
