Role Description To perform underwriting and credit analysis necessary to support the lending and loan portfolio quality management activities of MVB, while developing the skills to provide advanced credit risk identification and mitigation support to the Credit Department. And to provide administrative support to the department by maintaining key reporting systems. What You’ll Do - Loan Production and Credit Analysis - Independently perform underwriting tasks by preparing complex business and personal financial spreads - Perform risk analysis tasks by preparing complex risk grading documents and exercising subjectivity where appropriate - Perform research and analysis tasks by reviewing complex third-party reports to identify credit risk relevant to loan requests - Perform comprehensive credit analysis by preparing complex loan request presentations - Develop specialization in specific industries and/or loan types to provide expertise as a resource to the credit and lending departments - Assess and make recommendations with respect to borrower risk profiles - Loan Portfolio Quality Management - Independently perform underwriting and risk analysis for complex commercial loan renewals and modifications, as assigned - Perform/review complex loan covenant testing calculations - Prepare service requests as needed to support portfolio management objectives - Prepare complex commercial loan renewal/modification presentations - Prepare complex commercial loan Annual Review presentations - Assess and make recommendations with respect to borrower risk profiles - Underwriting Administration - Maintain financial statement tickler, covenant tickler and annual review tickler systems to ensure accurate system reports to be used by Portfolio Managers - Maintain accurate and organized financial statement imaging system - Professional Development and Special Projects - Complete education, as identified or as assigned, that provides expertise in loan underwriting, loan structuring, and overall professional development - Assist with the training and development of junior analysts - Serve, when requested, on special teams and projects across the organization Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field, or equivalent work experience - Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial credit analysis and underwriting required - 7+ years of experience in underwriting large, complex commercial real estate (CRE) loans, commercial & industrial (C&I) loans, acquisition, development & construction (AD&C) loans, and asset-based lending credits is preferred - Experience in underwriting borrowers in a variety of industries and sectors including but not limited to financial technology, payments processing, renewable energies, and/or litigation finance a significant plus - Proficient in credit administration, policy, and procedures - Proficient in economics, accounting, and finance - Proficient in risk analysis and mitigation - Proficient in technical report writing - Excellent verbal and written communication skills Benefits - Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance - Health Savings Account (HSA), Health Reimbursement Account (HRA) & Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) - Short- and Long-Term Disability Plan - Group Life Insurance - 401K Salary Deferral Plan - Wellness Program - Education & Tuition Expense Reimbursement - PTO and Unique Vacation Purchase Program - Nationwide Pet Insurance Coverage
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in commercial credit analysis and underwriting required
- 7+ years of experience in underwriting large, complex commercial real estate (CRE) loans, commercial & industrial (C&I) loans, acquisition, development & construction (AD&C) loans, and asset-based lending credits is preferred
- Experience in underwriting borrowers in a variety of industries and sectors including but not limited to financial technology, payments processing, renewable energies, and/or litigation finance a significant plus
