Area Sales Manager

Motorola Solutions

• Developing and implementing sales/business development strategies and programs to increase market penetration and revenue • Manage business of $100 million in sales with 7 direct reports • Working with the Sales and Marketing teams to formulate and develop sales plans based on the company’s present/future business, budgets, new product introductions, and account-by-account specific data • Appraising and evaluating market conditions on an on-going basis and initiating appropriate actions to maintain business momentum and react to competition; assist/assure company positioning as a qualified vendor with all entities • Hiring/Training/Developing/Motivating/Retaining qualified sales staff resulting in higher performance and increased sales – holding team accountable to established sales goals/metrics • Overseeing/executing the proposal management process from opportunity identification to contract award • Establishing and growing business relationships with key customer decision makers • Identifying and developing strong relationships and appropriately utilizing advocates; compiling and reporting significant sales activity

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree with 4+ years of sales/public safety experience OR 8+ years of sales/public safety experience
  • Knowledge of Public Safety solutions, NextGen 9-1-1, CAD, Records, Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Public Safety LTE, and analytics
  • Background with public safety experience in Police, Fire, EMS work
  • Excellent understanding of government budget legislation; acquisition regulation/appropriations/funding
  • Prior experience in distribution management
  • Ability to quickly acquire business knowledge of customers and interpret customer needs
  • Develops and articulates winning sales strategies; able to translate and link the visions of Motorola Solutions and the customer into achievable, winning strategies
  • Takes personal responsibility and initiative to design unique solutions that win for all parties
  • Ability to be proactive, innovative, and use creative thinking to solve customer problems
  • Superior team leadership – accomplishing results through collaborative efforts and teamwork with all stakeholders
