Role Description We are looking for a skilled Business Analyst with hands-on experience in Guidewire PolicyCenter to join our P&C Insurance practice. In this role you will bridge the gap between business stakeholders and the technical delivery team — translating complex insurance business requirements into clear, implementable specifications on the Guidewire platform. The position is based in San Antonio or Plano, Texas, with a fully remote working option available for qualified candidates. Key Responsibilities - Requirements & Analysis: - Elicit, document, and validate business requirements from P&C insurance stakeholders (underwriting, policy ops, product management). - Translate business needs into detailed functional specifications, user stories, and acceptance criteria for Guidewire PolicyCenter configurations and integrations. - Conduct gap analysis between current-state processes and target-state Guidewire capabilities. - Guidewire PolicyCenter Configuration: - Collaborate with developers and architects on PolicyCenter configuration including: - Product Model (lines of business, coverages, conditions, exclusions) - Rating engine and rate tables - Workflow and activity configuration - Policy issuance, endorsements, cancellations, and renewals - Support configuration of submission, quote, bind, and issuance workflows across personal and/or commercial lines. - Review and validate Gosu scripts and configuration against business requirements (authoring not mandatory but ability to read is required). - Project Delivery: - Create and maintain BRDs, FRDs, process flow diagrams, data flow diagrams, use cases, and traceability matrices. - Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies — sprint planning, backlog grooming, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives. - Manage and prioritize the product backlog in coordination with the Product Owner. - Drive UAT planning, test case preparation, defect triage, and sign-off with business users. - Stakeholder Management: - Serve as the primary liaison between business teams, IT delivery teams, and the Guidewire implementation partner. - Facilitate workshops, JAD sessions, and stakeholder interviews to gather and validate requirements. - Communicate project status, risks, and issues clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences. - Integration & Data: - Support analysis of PolicyCenter integrations with billing systems, claims, document management, rating engines, and third-party data providers. - Work with data teams to define data migration requirements and validate conversion data quality. Qualifications - Required: - 4 – 5 years of Business Analyst experience in P&C insurance IT projects. - Minimum 2 – 3 years of direct, hands-on experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter (implementation, upgrade, or configuration projects). - Strong understanding of P&C insurance lifecycle: quoting, binding, endorsements, renewals, and cancellations. - Proficiency in writing user stories, acceptance criteria, BRDs, FRDs, and process maps. - Experience with Agile/Scrum delivery methodology. - Familiarity with Guidewire Studio, Product Designer, and PolicyCenter data model. - Working knowledge of integration patterns (REST/SOAP APIs, messaging) as applied to PolicyCenter. - Strong communication and facilitation skills with both technical teams and business stakeholders. - Preferred: - Experience with Guidewire Cloud Platform (GWCP / Guidewire Cloud). - Exposure to Guidewire BillingCenter or ClaimCenter for end-to-end insurance suite understanding. - Familiarity with Gosu scripting language (read/review level). - Experience with personal lines (auto, home) and/or commercial lines (BOP, GL, WC) in a carrier environment. - Knowledge of ISO/ACORD data standards. - Experience with tools such as JIRA, Confluence, Visio, Lucidchart, and MS Azure DevOps. Requirements - Possession of one or more of the below certifications is strongly preferred; candidates actively pursuing certification will also be considered: - Guidewire Certified System Associate – PolicyCenter // Guidewire Software // Core platform & product model knowledge - Guidewire Certified System Professional – PolicyCenter // Guidewire Software // Advanced configuration & integrations - Guidewire Cloud Platform Badge / Associate // Guidewire Software // Cloud-first delivery on GWCP - CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) // IIBA // Enterprise BA best practices & techniques - CCBA (Certification in Business Analysis) // IIBA // Intermediate BA credential (CBAP pathway) - PMI-PBA (Professional in Business Analysis) // PMI // Project-aligned BA practices - Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) // Scrum Alliance // Agile delivery; backlog & story ownership Education - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, or related field. - Master's degree or MBA is a plus.
