Technical Project Manager, Data Center Operations Systems
NscaleNscale is the Hyperscaler engineered for AI.
Role Description Nscale is seeking a Technical Project Manager, Data Center Operations Systems to lead the implementation of software platforms and digital workflows that bridge Control Systems and Data Center Operations. The role owns delivery of integrated capabilities such as Jira and Jira Service Management, AI-enabled preventive and predictive maintenance, Octave (formerly Hexagon) asset database interfaces, Management of Change (MOC), and related operational applications. This is a hands-on technical delivery role: the TPM is not the Control Systems design authority, but must understand data flows, APIs, asset models, operational risk, and software delivery well enough to manage decisions, dependencies, and outcomes. What You'll be Doing - Own the roadmap, backlog, and delivery plan for operations software that connects BMS, EPMS, SCADA, OT telemetry, asset data, and operational workflows. - Lead the day-to-day delivery of a cross-functional team of software developers, data and AI specialists, analysts, and vendors; set priorities, manage capacity, remove blockers, and hold owners accountable for outcomes. - Apply a pragmatic agile-light delivery model: maintain a prioritized backlog, define clear requirements and acceptance criteria, work in short delivery cycles, demonstrate working functionality regularly, and avoid ceremony that does not improve execution. - Translate Operations, Controls, Reliability, Commissioning, and site requirements into user stories, process maps, interface specifications, data requirements, test plans, and release roadmaps. - Deliver and improve platforms including Jira and Jira Service Management, AI-enabled maintenance applications, Octave asset database integrations, MOC workflows, operational dashboards, and supporting reporting tools. - Manage interfaces between operational applications and source systems, including APIs, event and alarm data, asset identifiers, work-order triggers, access controls, synchronization logic, exception handling, and support ownership. - Establish asset and operational data governance, including source-of-truth decisions, asset hierarchies, naming conventions, unique identifiers, data ownership, quality checks, and lifecycle management. - Maintain clear system boundaries so operational software can observe, analyze, and initiate approved workflows without bypassing local control, safety, cybersecurity, or authorization requirements. - Own delivery governance including scope, schedules, budgets, vendor performance, RAID logs, dependencies, decisions, change control, executive reporting, and practical recovery plans when delivery is at risk. - Lead testing, release, and operational readiness activities, including environment planning, integration and user acceptance testing, security reviews, cutover and rollback planning, release notes, training, runbooks, and support handoff. - Implement traceable MOC processes covering impact assessment, technical and operational reviews, approvals, documentation updates, training, implementation verification, and formal closure. - Define and report meaningful outcomes such as delivery predictability, adoption, system availability, data quality, workflow cycle time, backlog health, maintenance effectiveness, and realized operational value. Qualifications - 7+ years of technical project, program, or product delivery experience implementing business-critical software, data, asset-management, maintenance, or operations platforms. - Demonstrated success leading software or data delivery teams using Scrum, Kanban, or similar iterative methods, with an emphasis on practical execution rather than process overhead. - Experience converting operational processes and stakeholder needs into structured requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, delivery plans, and measurable outcomes. - Strong working knowledge of systems integration concepts including APIs, databases, telemetry and event data, master data, identity and access management, test environments, release management, and production support. - Experience supporting data centers, mission-critical facilities, industrial operations, utilities, manufacturing, or another 24x7 operating environment. - Strong project governance, stakeholder communication, risk management, vendor coordination, issue escalation, and executive reporting skills. - Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Nice to Have - Data center operations experience and familiarity with BMS, EPMS, SCADA, OT networks, historians, MQTT, or similar operational data sources. - Experience with Jira or Jira Service Management, EAM/CMMS or asset-information platforms, Octave/Hexagon, MOC systems, or integrated maintenance workflows. - Exposure to AI-enabled predictive maintenance, anomaly detection, condition monitoring, reliability engineering, or operational analytics. - Working knowledge of SQL and data models, REST APIs, cloud platforms, DevOps or CI/CD practices, observability, and role-based access control. - PMP, Agile, Scrum, Kanban, ITIL, Lean, Six Sigma, or related delivery and process-improvement certification. Benefits - Highly competitive package (base + equity) with reviews every 12 months. - Join the fastest-growing tech startup, your chance to push boundaries, collaborate with brilliant minds, and make your mark on cutting-edge AI. - Expect a dynamic progression plan tailored to your ambitions. Grow by trying new things, leading, challenging the status quo, and owning your impact, always with our full support. - Human-First Flexibility: We treat you as humans first. Our flexible workplace trusts Nscalers to deliver, giving you the autonomy to shape your day around life's moments.
